Strong sewer odor around Turtle Mound Golf course

We played some golf this weekend on Turtle Mound, and there was a strong sewer oder.......is it like this in the area all the time...where is it comming from???? For homeowners, it would be tough to sit on the lanai or even work in the back yard when the wind is blowing the wrong way with this swell??

Anyone else get this smell or do I just have a sensitive nose!!!!

Pelican Problems

The smell isn't bad there only, have you been to Pelican lately? Something is wrong with that pond, there are dead fish all along the shoreline and the smell on all sides is terrible. Mentioned something to an ambassador and he said he would check into it.

Colony Plaza

I asked the same question a few weeks ago. Not many responses.
Guess just a few of us have sensitive noses.

just a guess..but could it be from the use of recycled water...i know after my irrigation system does its thing...there is a foul odor left behind

Tank,

That was my suggestion to Whalen's previous thread. It had been dry for so long, and then we got all that rain and I think it stirred things up a bit. I agree that the recycled water we use is pretty foul smelling at times.

And to think People pay PREMIUM prices to be backed up to a retention pond or a golf course. I cant believe TV cannot do something about this or that the problem is even recognized by TV.

Sewage Disposal

There's a sewage disposal area right next to the golf course!

Is the water used for irrigation in TV, billed at a lower rate than the treated water used inside the house? Thanks...

The base potable water charge is $1.66/1000 gallon up to 8.5K gallons. You also have to add Sewer charges and the base charge is $3.99/1000 gallon up to 10K gallons. You also pay the monthly connect fee of $7.75 for water and $11.12 for sewer. Also add 5% potable water tax.

The base irrigation water charge is $1.80/1000 gallon for 7K gallons and
$3.00/1000 gallon between 7-14K gallons of use and jumps up from there above 14K of water use. Connect charge is $5.20 per month. Depending upon your home/lot size you will most likely use more irrigation water than potable water

So if you assume 5K gallons of potable water your cost (water and sewer)would be $16.05 plus 31.07 or $47.12 plus 5% tax while 5K gallons of irrigation water would cost $14.20. (10K gallons for irrigation would cost approx $26.80)

Even though the base potable water charge is more than irrigation water you ae not paying the sewer charges.

I think you need to check your unit prices.

We normally use about 150 gallons of potable water a day. Times 30 days = 4,500 gallons. Times $1.66 per gallon = $7,470 per month for potable water plus other fees. NOT!

.

Chuck its per 1000 gallons Ill make the correction which would make your bill $7.47 per month.

BobKat1 07-07-2009 03:09 PM

Thanks for the information on the water rates...

Which golf coure?

Kate,
Agree about retention ponds and recycled water.
The smell around Colony is that to the 10th degree.

What I dont understand is that if the smell is that bad ..and it can be....why the residents dont get together and speak up. For all the stuff people complain about, this one I think is serious and effects your quality of life.

I mean who would buy a house in that area if they get a wiff of that stuff.
