Obama Health Plan-Cut Medicare and Medicaid for Seniors

It's official. The funding strategy for the Obama Health Plan is to cut Medicare and Medicaid funding for seniors and to ratchet up the taxes on small businesses.

medicaid

Medicaid is a program for lower income and not designed for seniors. Medicaid spending is to increase under the proposed health care plan.

Before I saw this thread I posted this in another thread..perhaps better served in here...

Am I understanding the House version correctly...

It will increase the coverage with Medicaid....low income folks...

AND

Reduce the spending on Medicaire folks...me, for example !

I do not want to overreact since there is no law and this is a proposal, but I planned my retirement on having medicaire as it is for years. I worked hard and used this 40 year old coverage as an ingredient in this planning.

Now, my coverage will drop ? And those who, and I dont want to sound unsympathetic, may not have planned will pick up more coverage ?

How far off am I ?

.....and Medicare is for.......??? What's your point? Are there any 55 year olds receiving medicaid? Medicaid is income driven and I suspect there are working seniors who qualify.

Obama wants to cut hundreds of billions from Medicare and Medicaid to offset his trillion dollar package. He is conspicuously vague about the actual impact on those that avail themselves of these programs. I should note that George Bush tried a similar assault on these programs and was unsuccessful.

Those who oppose the plan want a national discussion on the implications of the plan before a rush to make it law while creating a government health system. They suggest medical tort claim reform to bring down operating costs for medical professionals. They want to maximize the potential of wellness and prevention programs that have been successful in cutting costs. The opposition advocates the encouragement of competition between private insurers. They also want to factor in the needs of small business as it relates to the provision of health benefits to employees. There are many other suggestions too numerous to incorporate in this post.

Thank you for your thoughtful response and correction.

This is off topic but....

have you noticed how many groups are being pitted against each other?
