Walk in roman shower: Love it or hate it?
 

I was in TV the first 2 weeks in July, checked out the new homes open house just about every day, and not so sure I like the "walk in" roman showers I saw in many of the Designer homes. They appear dark and narrow in some cases, and wondered how folks who actually have them like them. Seems like a good idea to not have shower doors, but wonder about the water running outside the shower, or the "closed in" feel of it. For those of you who have them, what do you like / not like about the roman showers? I am hoping to purchase within a few months and really would love to hear from you! Thanks for your input, really appreciated.

By the way, I loved the 4th of July events at Spanish Springs (wow, fantastic!) and even visited Crispers since I am in NJ and not (yet) able to join your gatherings. Trendy looking place that Crispers, loved the Asian salad - too bad there was no TOTV gathering, I missed you all!

We have a walk-in shower and love it. As for dark, we had a solar tube installed in the bathroom to shed more light in that area.

We like the roman shower. Dog likes it too. He lays on cool floor and scares the :cus: out of you when you least expect it while you're in the bathroom.

Love ours, but it depends on which one you have.
Ours has a window in it, bright & cheery and spacious and water cannot splash outside the shower area. Our neighbor has a different layout, no window, dark and a little cramped.
Guess it depends on the house you pick.

When we built in 05 the Bridgeport had a roman shower so we redsigned it and ended up with a 6.5 foot square shower and 45d the door on the front, it is great. Inadvertantly we ended with a wheel chair excessible shower which one will be useful or maybe a good sales tool. No bath in the master but then dont like them much anyway

Judy and I love the roman shower in our Camelia, We have noticed some of the other models have showers that are nit as roomy.

We love ours. It's interior but not dark. Like the solar tube idea. Thanks

We have a Bridgeport with the Roman shower. I echo Kathie's comments and others about no leakage and ease of cleaning. Our doggies likes to sit just outside the "wet" area as well.

We have no window in there, but our bathroom is bright so the shower is not too dark - I never get that feeling I always got up north of it being cold and dark in the morning due to a dark shower.

One added bonus - room for 2! :eclipsee_gold_cup:

I have noticed that some of the Roman showers have glass block on the upper half of the wall so the light can get in.

I am so happy to hear all the positive feedback about the walk in showers, they are beautiful but I had some reservations and now will put them behind me based on your responses. Yup, I realized the light/size of the roman showers differed a bit in the different designer homes - I loved the glass blocks that AceSkaters referenced, thought that was a great idea when I saw them. So glad to hear there is no leakage, run off. Solar tubes sound like a great idea, and I'll keep that in mind. As for the shower for 2,,,hmm, Kate is hilarious! Loved that comment! If I walked in to my house and there was a Italian guy in my bathroom taking a shower, he would need a window at the minium :popcorn:

Just a thought.

When I was at the stained glass store borrowing their glass band to cut a tough piece, the owner was working on two beautiful pieces that he said was for a builder (in Redmond WA Trilogy I think) to put in a Roman Shower in the wall between it and the rest of the bathroom. The pieces are sealed with plain glass like a triple pane after completion (by a window store) so easy to clean. I thought at the time how beautiful it would be. He said he had done some sandblasted etched three D pieces for the same purpose.
