7. LIFESTYLE
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville empire will soon include a retirement community in Daytona Beach, Florida where seniors can "live the Margaritaville lifestyle as they grow older, but not up.” The community will include 7,000 homes, pools, a Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant and a Five O'Clock Somewhere bar. The deep water scares me.

Does that make Jimmy a greedy SOB?

If he makes money at it.

After 14 years of fun in The Villages we are actively looking for somewhere else. Somewhere without 150,000 people in an un-gated community that has no regard for water supply or sensible traffic control. But again, that's just us.

When they have an open house we will go. It's good to compare

Will be a long time before it becomes anything close to TV...

I miss the ocean. Something my midwestern cohorts can't relate to. This will appeal to all the boomer northeasteners. Maybe they'll have a real pizza joint and bagel store. Regardless, I'll stick around here and count my blessings for not having to work anymore. Besides, the salt water dries out my skin something terrible. |
It's not on the beach. It's about due north of the racetrack.

Having the 'World's Most Famous Beach' just a short drive away... will be an attraction to a lot of people.
And given the number of 'Parrot Heads' retiring in the near future...I believe will also attract certain folks. I'm also guessing that they're not even trying to compete with TV on size and amenities...and that will be an attraction to some also. Given 'different strokes for different folks'...I think they will do just fine. |

- Ocean front within 25 miles - Mountains within 50 miles - River with rapids within 75 miles But, if we did have these, we would turn into East Coast L.A. in 20 years. |
