A Conspicuous Absence....

Of comments on this forum and in the media of the escalating war in Afghanistan. The month of July (with a week to go) has seen a record number of deaths of U.S. troops. This past week there was a request to increase the total number of members in the Armed forces to record highs. Not a peep of protest from "the left". Can you imagine the response to the same numbers a year ago?

Media Bias?

Are you insinuating that the media has an agenda? Are you saying that the media tries to hide things that are unfavorable to the First Teleprompter? Are you saying that the honeymoon hasn't lost it's luster?:0000000000luvmyhors

Are you saying that the media would be beating the drums loudly and constantly about the unemployment figures if it was a year ago?

I guess they figure that the sheeple will not notice.

What bugs me the most about the Arrogant in Chief is his insistence that he is always right and never any apologies except when he goes over seas and then he is the chief apologist.
When he went on the Bill O'Reilly show (and I give him alot of credit for that) he would not even admit that the Surge in Iraq worked. O'Reilly asked him many times and the arrogant SOB would not admit that it worked.
That is when I lost all respect for the guy. A real man would admit it. He is so quick to judge and blame his predecessor for everything but will not take any responsibility or criticism.

I can't speak for this forum, but there has been a lot of coverage about the war in Afghanistan both locally and nationally. It's not going well and IMO will ontinue drag on like Iraq.

Unbelievable

Incredible...

"I think the Fraternal Order of Police endorsed McCain," Gibbs fired back at reporters, referring to Obama's Republican opponent in the 2008 election. "If I'm not mistaken."

You are mistaken - President Obama also had the Firefighters.

Tactics necessary to succeed in Afghanistan require a lot of public support. The Russians learned the hard way that conventional military approaches don't work there. It's a "special operations" environment, and that often is a many-year, consensus-building effort in which mega-force operations can hinder results.

I hope this White House doesn't want to "play soldier" with military operations as the Clinton administration did in Somalia and a couple other spots. When amateurs go from setting goals to trying to run the show, there are always more casualties.

Steve, you nailed it!

This thread needs to be bumped a few times.

Lets hope the Russians are not supporting the Taliban covertly as we did.

Actually I believe the Ruskies have given us some airspace access to vital targets.
