Home sick
May 15, my wife and I left The Villages, in our motorhome, for an extended trip out West. We have had an awesome time looking at our great country. Learning a lot about the old West, Indians, Bufflo Bill Cody, Yellowstone National Park, and etc. I must say it's the first time we have ever taken a trip in our RV that we were not extremely excited about leaving. We have only been in The Villages one year and feel like we are on vacation everyday. Currently we are in Cody WY, July 27. and on television, I saw a commercial on The Villages. Now I'm suddenly homesick. Probably will be back in August and will be excited to be home.

Sounds like you are on a great trip. I must admit our RV sits more than it should, always seems like there is something going on here to prevent us from getting out. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

When I moved from LA last year, we drove the 3 dogs and for the first time I got to see the country and you are so right, there is so much beauty out there and we should enjoy it more. See ya at the Hadley pool!! |
Most RV's sit around and do nothing most of the time. Maybe an RV club where ownership is shared by 4 or 5 couples. Cost drops to 20% to 30%, use increases, and experiences and information could be shared. I belonged to a flying club where 10 people owned an airplane and it really worked out well. Just have to establish the right bylaws, rules, dues and use fees that make sense for everyone and it could work well. Would have to think through all the items like does everyone get two months, how they are rotated, how does replacement cost work, etc. With the plane, dues covered every cost to have the plane always ready to fly but never fly. Insurance, hanger rent, annual maintenance, reservation answering service, jeppson charts, depreciation and any upgrades agreed on. And use cost were all those that happened when ever it was flown. Fuel, 100 hour inspections, 25 hour oil changes, 1800 hour engine replacement, tires and any other wear and replacement cost.
I would bet the same set up would work with an RV. Should work with anything people need but only use on a limited basis. |
Not to be missed spots?
KattieI and dgammon6 could you share any spots you saw that aren’t to be missed, surprising great meals etc. We are thinking we will drive from Seattle to Vegas (We have friends there) and then over to TV in fall 2011 and I am compiling a list of not to be missed spots and great eats along the way:coolsmiley:. I always have to have a plan. As we are originally from Hawaii, and have always been relocated by companies, we have flown over the continental US on our many moves but haven’t really seen it.
All ideas greatfully accepted. |
Just be sure your back in November as Jan and I are bringing Guest this time.
L.B. ps, I bet you never missed Tansel Road |
