Water dispenser isn't working. Any referrals would be appreciated

Call Becks Appliance repair, excellent service, 352-245-3598, or Home | Beck's Appliance Repair.

probably only need new filter

villagetinker 03-22-2017 12:30 PM

Do you have ice? If so, filter is probably working, also, ours gives us a message when the filter needs to be changed. On ours there is a connection from the light switch to the ICE and water dispenser, so these are blocked from operating if either door is open. I recall seeing reports where the lights were not going off, and this stopped ice and water dispensers from working.

Thanks. I put in a new filter but still doesn't work

At least once a year, since owning our home here, the water dispenser on our refrigerator has stopped working. It turned out to be a frozen water line every time. Easy fix - no repairman needed. My husband uses the blow dryer to thaw it out.

Another recommendation for Becks

I am having the same problem with slow water flow. The ice maker works. I will contact Beck's about this. I did replace the water filter but that didn't fix the problem.

Yep.

I have had the same problem over the years...with a number of different refrigerators.

But where exactly would be the water line. In the door?

Trace it from the source at the wall and you can see where it runs into the refrigerator.

Typically, right where it enters the ice maker is the best place to use the above mentioned hair dryer, but you can start thawing at the point where the line is first attached to the back of the refrigerator...and work your way up.

It could save an expensive repair call.

Good luck.

On edit: Yes, you may have to estimate where the line is inside the door and direct the hair dryer in those locations.

Water

You can either turn down freezer to lowest level and it will defrost. Or a quicker way is a blow dryer for a few minutes. Works every time.

AGREE..thats what we do ...Its a GE side by Side (water ice/water dispenser in front freezer door) takes about 30 minutes using a blow dryer
