Should We Reduce Legal Immigration?
The below cited author wrote an article pertaining to Senator Tom Cotton ( R-AR). The following excerpts are intended to share your conclusion, suggestions, etc as respect LEGAL IMMIGRATION
The controversy currently permeating the sound waves pertains to Trump's Travel Ban. Yet a legitimate argument is that this nation needs immigration to sustain its dying labor force. In 1965 our legal immigration system began placing emphasis on family reunification which has caused a tilt toward immigrants more inclined to compete for low-skilled jobs. Today the US awards 65% of immigrant visas based on family ties, 15% based on employment and the remainder refugees, asylum seekers. Stacie Carr and Marta Tienda Princeton University study found that every 100 immigrants admitted between 1981-1985 without benefit of a family sponsor went on to sponsor 260 family members, and that number increased to 345 between 1996-2000 Both Canada and Australia admit more than 60% based on skill. Whether immigration depresses wages is hotly debated. However beside economic consideration, immigration creates strains on security, community and national identity. Legal immigration in the early 80's was mostly Vietnamese people.
I don't know about YOU but I sure get tired of reading about the lazy Vietnamese who refuse to get a job and turn to life of crime... (for the more enlightened members of the forum, that last line is "sarcasm") |

Immigration Is Not A Right
Quote:
Why would a nation allow unlimited number of immigrants to their nation who will only create a financial burden on that nation ? Why would a nation allow H1B visas to immigrants if that nation had an ample supply of citizens in said occupation who could fill those positions? Why would a nation allow immigrants into their nation if they refused to assimilate? Progressive seemly act as if immigration legal or otherwise is a right of passage . It is not The United States needs to control its borders and to have an immigration policy that results in a beneficial relationship for this nation. We already have too many takers And finally in my view this issue isn't about race, etc its about a sensible immigration policy Personal Best Regards: |
