Is It Me?

Is it just me or has there been no truly good music produced since 1990? I can’t think of a single song that I consider great or even good that was recorded since then. I grew up loving the early rock and some pre-rock of the 50’s. The 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s were full of new exciting music. Then it all came crashing down right around 1990. Grunge rock had somehow become the favorite of our obviously hearing-impaired children. This music made me yearn for the Days of Disco. But not too much. And everything “new” today sounds just like what was “new” yesterday.
I’m asking you, my fellow Villagers, to help me. Is it just me? I know it’s not, but is it the music? Or is it the way they listen? I mean Iphones and ear buds? Is that the way to listen to music?
The floor is yours.

I too am very partial to the 'oldies' and since I don't even listen to current music, I can't even say if I like any of it...or whether it's good or not.

If you think "grunge rock" took over music, you obviously don't listen much.
And yes, it's just you.

Plenty of good music for me. Saw the Avett Brothers Thursday in Savannah. Caught Alabama Shakes twice last year. Went on the Blues Cruise in Feb and heading to New Orleans for the French Quarter Fest next week. Going to Clarksdale for the Mississippi Saxophone Festival in May. It's out there...just gotta find it. Don't need headphones for live music.

Same instruments, same sound. Not much you can do except invent new instruments.
But there's a lot of good, new stuff out there.

I like a lot of the new music. Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Adele, Cold Play, etc. I like all music except rap. Not a big country fan, but do like some of the newer country. I really like classic rock & roll.
