Unemployment
 

The media is all over the latest unemployment figures.
They say things look good because there were 247,000 layoffs instead of the expected 320,000. Am I living in some kind of alternate universe? There were a quarter of million people layed off and things look good now?
Look, I want the economy to do good just like everybody, right. I mean..when the economy does good my IRA and other investments will do well.
My question is...Is the media playing politics here? Would the headlines be as rosy if a republican was in office.
I remember after the economic recovery in the 2002-2004 era and the press kept saying it was a jobless recovery even though millions were going back to work. Again, this reminds me of my wife coming home from a shopping trip and telling me that she has good news for me. She says she only spent $4,000 on a new winter wardrobe. I asked her why spending $4,000 was good news on a winter wardrobe and she said everything was on sale otherwise it would have cost us $7,000. She said "Aren't we lucky"? :o
