A portion of I-85 in Atlanta collapsed last night

Start planning an alternate route north (and south) as traffic on I-285 and I-75 will be affected.

It is not even Easter yet. We have a few more weeks of this heavy traffic.

Thanks for the alert. :ho:
One of the things I love about TOTV is that posters try to help others!

It seems to me that there has already been a bit less traffic.. But, maybe I am delusional?

A similar crash and burn accident took out a overpass at the major interchange to the Bay Bridge in Oakland about 10 years ago.

Caltrans offered a Million dollar bonus to a contractor who would guarantee completion in 30 calendar days from notice to proceed. The job was completed in 27 days.

Total delay time from accident to re-design, proposal acceptance and work was about 3 months.

Nope. We were at Walmart 466 yesterday at 11:30 AM. Hardly anyone in store and 466 was a breeze. Renters have flown the coup [emoji847]

How to bypass I 85 -

The online photos appear to show a complete collapse of all 5 or 6 North bound lanes on to the road below, looks like lots of damage. There was no information about the state of the south bound lanes. The article stated this section of road handles 250,000 vehicles per day!
This will be a mess.

It looks like the Braves picked a good time to vacate Turner Field next to I-85 in downtown Atlanta. I lived in Atlanta for one year, it's the only city I've lived in that I didn't like. It's not Georgia, because I enjoyed the eight or so years I lived in Savannah. One thing about I-85, people there drive like it's the start of Daytona, you can go 80 mph all day on the expressways.

IT now appears that BOTH north and south portions will have to be replaced
