A portion of I-85 in Atlanta collapsed last night
Start planning an alternate route north (and south) as traffic on I-285 and I-75 will be affected.

The online photos appear to show a complete collapse of all 5 or 6 North bound lanes on to the road below, looks like lots of damage. There was no information about the state of the south bound lanes. The article stated this section of road handles 250,000 vehicles per day!
This will be a mess. |
It looks like the Braves picked a good time to vacate Turner Field next to I-85 in downtown Atlanta. I lived in Atlanta for one year, it's the only city I've lived in that I didn't like. It's not Georgia, because I enjoyed the eight or so years I lived in Savannah. One thing about I-85, people there drive like it's the start of Daytona, you can go 80 mph all day on the expressways.
