CITY FURNITURE warranty policy

Purchased a sectinal couch 9 months ago. Just realized seam let go in an area that is not sat on. Called City Furniture Warranty Department and learned that they do not cover any warranty on anything you purchase unless you buy the extended warranty from them. You must go through the manufacturer. In my case I must pay to have them come out to the house to look at it or transport the furniture to their facility on the east coast. The seam opening is two inches long. REALLY!!! READ EVERYTHING carefully if you buy from them. They will NEVER see my business again.

Here is some even better advice. Do a 'search' on TOTV before making a large purchase from a store or vendor that you are not familiar. Here's some past threads about City Furniture.

There's more, but you should get the point. A personal experience, my neighbor went there to buy a $1500 sectional and they were going to charge him $150 for delivery. He said, your ads say 'free delivery' on purchases of $499 or more. They said, no we don't have that anymore. He cancelled the order and went to the second hand store, Nearlee New in Fruitland Park and bought a beautiful leather couch for $500.

Furniture stores like Babettes, Havertys, Blockers, Hudsons and Baer's you don't hear these kind of stories. City Furniture there 's a thread every month where somebody has problems. Now, everyone that reads this, will know where to shop. Guess what, somebody will buy there next week and they'll be a new thread started soon after.

Because City Furniture maintains a presence at LSL it may give a false sense of comfort to some. We always shop outside TV and the surrounding area for any large purchase. The exception being Babette's in Leesburg. We recently bought 2 new automobiles in Orlando because we found out quickly that the dealers in Leesburg and Ocala don't play nice.

The Villages is a senior community and to ethically challenged local merchants the residents might as well have bull's-eyes painted on their backs. Once your money is in their hands the attitude is " too bad, you trusted us, your mistake ". As far as they are concerned, they are not likely to sell to your children or other relatives and they are only going to do business with you once. The " big box " stores and merchants out of the area on the other hand rely on repeat business and value their hard earned reputations. Please note I referred to ethically challenged merchants, not all of them.

Wow, City Furniture. Never again. They are not good at their word. The delivery guys were terrible and sloppy and who knows when we could get them to show up. Long story.
Shop around. A local Trades man, a good guy told us so many businesses here are so used to the impulse buying and quick deals and big ripoffs, very big.

YOU ARE THE CASH COW,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, MOOOOOOOO Shop elsewhere and be sure to get everything in wriiting,,,,,,,,,,,,,, look at it like this, the article is nice now, so how is this dealer going to short change me or screw me,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, BE CAREFUL.

Just for the record, we furnished our entire home and patio from City Furniture 2 years ago. We love the product and had a great experience.

Bought our dining table and chairs there. Chairs are Snow White, our sales person recommend the warranty. $39 we have had them out 3 times, no charge, two time stain came out completely. Third time it did not, had a faint discolor, I thought we would have to live with it. Service guy called had new chair delivered two days later, no charge.

Thumbs Up....City

We have made 3 major purchases at City Furniture. We have taken the extended warranty on each. If unused you are issued a credit after a 3 year period...comes via mail. The furniture we bought in one case was made in Mississippi. We bought a large sofa for one room. The salesman knew our model and said it would fit. The delivery man was great...and told me that geometry was his best course and used it in moving furniture. So far they have been good for us. We enjoy sales people and delivery people...never disappointing so far.

A bedroom and a dining room from the Evil Empire and all went well. I did temporarily loose my TOTV certificate because I shopped there but RickeyD made sue I was reinstated quickly. They are your typical furniture store and not high end at all. I just let them know that any errors or scratches or bleeps or blunders would kill the deal in full, no second chances, no coming out to repair something nothing but a perfect delivery would be accepted.

I'm not sure if there policy is still the same but beware that home delivery is way different than home delivery and set up. Pick the wrong one and they will drop the furniture at your door but on the outside. All in all it worked out for us but I can see where they get their reputation for being shady characters.

Once you visit the dark side, is there any coming back ? I have been praying for you my son. Mother Teresa needed an exorcism before she died, I still carry my altar boy license so don't hesitate to call.

I feel that the best furniture store in this area is Paynes Furniture Outlet in Summerfield Fl. across from Camper World on Rt. 441 the prices are low and the quality is good.
