Social Media Site: Next Door
 

I recently requested help finding a new doctor. Someone pm'd me and suggested I try "Next Door" which is a social media site available here in TV. I have made it a point not to get involved with any social media sites, but this time I did. I cannot tell you how much help I got from this site which is my local neighborhood site.

If you are in need of anything, and I do mean anything, this neighborhood site is great.

There was even a man on this site looking for a dance partner ................ no I did not reply!:)

The Villages, Florida neighborhoods, events and more | Nextdoor

This appears to be their main page where you register and find your Village. But almost every Village in TV has a local neighborhood site. I use ask.com as my search engine and when I posted Next Door site all sorts of Village sites came up. It is not the easiest site to find your way around, but if you give it time it works and you start getting answers the very next day.

I actually have it coming into my junk file which makes it much easier for me to keep these emails separate.

Each village or group of villages has their own community...the one that I belong to, buttonwood queen of palms is incredibly helpful... I rarely see the snarky comments that permeate totv blogs

So right ........... no unpleasantness, just really nice people trying to help one another. I even had one lady give me her phone number to call and she would tell me more about a certain doctor.

It's a very helpful site. You very rarely get a bad comment. It nice to have someone give you advice, and truly want to help.

When I tried to sign up, I had to consent to giving them access to my email contact list. Is that still the case? I refused and never finished signing up.

I did not go through that. I just signed up to access my Village and that was that. When you ask a question you do have the availability of asking the whole community or just your area.

I was on that Site for a few days. The message traffic was overwhelming so I got off.......
