After what I read in the paper today what Vic actually did to those poor dogs, I think he should still be in prison and not playing football. I originally though he just shot the ones that didn't perform, now I find out differently. So cruel. He should rot in hell for what he did.

I think he deserves a 2nd chance. He did his time as prescribed by law.

Laura, I completely agree with you. He's a disgusting human being and people should boycott the Philadelphia Eagles for even hiring him! :rant-rave:

What happened to our athletes being role models? He served time, but not nearly enough time and most of it in his mansion. But, I thoroughly believe there is a special place in Hell for that kind of person. :cus::yuck:

Makes you wonder about Vic's childhood. Did he go around killing animals then? Was he raised by an abusive father? Some of those characteristics are common for sociopaths. Looks like football didn't help his aggressive tendencies. I heard the Eagles coach felt sorry for him because he believes in giving people a second chance. Apparently he followed Vic's case rather closely. The Eagles coach had 2 sons going to jail over drug charges at the same time Vic got himself into this mess. So the coach is sympathetic to Vic. I just think he will cause turmoil on the Eagles team and with the Eagle's fans, like Owens did. There's many people out there that will not be happy about this Eagles acquisition (especially the TV sponsors!). Just my opinion for what it's worth!!!

Even though I am from PA I never liked the Eagles; but now I despise them. Yes, Vic did his time, but what he did to those poor dogs is shameful. What makes it worse Vic was not a street thug; he was a professional and continued to be involved in dog fighting. He does not deserve a second chance and I think he is only appearing remorseful now since he thinks it will help him.

Baltimore Guy-I see your point - that he paid his debt. It is just another thing wrong with this society - it's OK to do what he did to those animals? The ONLY reason he is being considered for football again is M O N E Y.
Then why doesn't he play for FREE! And give all of his earnings to help stop dog fighting and other atrocities to animals. If he has truly repented, then lets see where his conscience takes him now.

Anyone who tortures animals deserves to be strung up and used as pittbull bait for their own dogs, there is an evil and cold heart within a person that could do this and I personally dont believe a 2nd chance will ever change what is inherent in a subhuman being like Vics!

There is no doubt what he did was wrong and awful cruel.
I agree with all of you on that point.
I also agree that the Eagles may have made a bad choice here.
Several ex NFL people have really put there selves on the line here with Michael and I do believe as with others that have been released from prison after serving the time. Time will tell if he has truly changed or not.

Just my thoughts

Yes - he is/was evil.
Yes - he deserved to do more time
Yes - he deserved to do harder time
Yes - he did the time in the place prescribed by law
Yes - The NFL should change it's by-laws to not allow felons to play the same as some other professions (Nursing, Doctors, civil service to name a few).

But Yes - he has the absolute right to pursue his profession according to the laws of the NFL and our country. But I don't have to like it or support it.

Wow, some of you folks are over the top judgmental. Vick deserves forgiveness and a 2nd chance. I think he has shown true remorse. He did put up $1M to help rescue dogs as well. He did not spend most of his prison time in his home. He lost that home and much of his other possessions to the repo man.

The problem with lots of these players who make it big is that they don't stop hanging around with their home boys who have not made anything of themselves. Vick should not have kept his feet in both 'worlds.'

This was his last chance wake up call. Congratulations to the Eagles for stepping up and giving him that chance.

I e-mailed the Eagles
 

and told them I hoped his contract has a clause that states if he does not perform he should be beaten and given electric shocks. Of course, I have not received any comment back from the Eagles. Isn't cruelty to animals a sign of a serial killer in the making?
