What movie is this Quote from?

"Well, I've wrestled with reality for 35 years, Doctor, and I'm happy to state I finally won out over it."

One of my favorites and quite old.

Close 2BNTV. Quite a bit older than that.

Looked up the answer but I won't spoil your fun!

One of my fave movies. But I'll leave the answer to someone who doesn't immediately recognize it.

Another great line from that movie, "Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. And you may quote me."

I saw the play of the same name at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis around 1989-1990. My live in girlfriend-- now a lawyer or a court administrator in NE-- Jennifer V., was rather angry that I had not purchased season tickets for her as well as but I thought that she would be too busy with her third year of law school. I had already graduated and saw many very good plays including the one with this movie plot. Jennifer V. is the daughter of a theater actress.

Hope someone gets this. Quite a wonderful movie and play.

I believe there is some fruit in it. Maybe even some lobster.

bandsdavis 04-28-2017 08:33 PM

Way to go. James Stewart from a 1944 play by Mary Chase.

Here's another one. "I have to laugh because I have out finessed myself."
