Solar tubes leak after many years?
We've been thinking of getting a solar tube, but someone told us that after a period of 5-10 years, they start to leak. Has anyone here had one a long time that they could comment on? Thanks..

Did the person teling you this have Solar Tubes or was it "we heard this".
There are different contractors out there and "The Solar Guys" who I am familiar with have a good reputation and provide a guarantee from leaks, and fortunatly I have not used the guarantee. I would be amazed if there was a quality issue with these solar tubes given the fact on how many have been installed in the Villages and your issue was the first raised about potential leaks. |
Solar Tubes
Nine Years,No leaks. We are very happy with them.

SOLAR TUBES DON'T LEAK.................... FUMAR |
There is no reason that I can think of that a solar tube should ever leak until the actual shingles on the roof begin to break down. The flashing around the solar tubes directs the water away from the tubes a condition which should be effective for more years than I need to count. If it is going to leak, it will be because of a poor installation and will occur after the first rain.
Put them in, you will like them. |
Actually we had an uncle that had complained about the tube. Maybe it was a poor installation. Thanks for the replies.
