Hot tubs
We are looking at hot tubs and deciding if one from Costco will suffice or will we need one from a local seller. We will be getting a 240v, not a plug and play. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

We bought from Spa Kingdom, very happy with our purchase, going on 3 years.
Now for some words of advice, you will need 2 permits for the hot tub, one is a SPA permit, the other is an electrical permit. You (or your electrician) will not be able to get the electrical permit without the spa permit. The spa permit covers the need for tempered glass in the area of the spa, and specific grounding requirements for the spa. The electrical permit will cover the electrical supply and the VISIBLE disconnect from the spa location. Send me a PM with your phone number if you want the long story about our installation, but suffice it to say the proper permits were NOT pulled with the initial installation and this was found when we went to move it 1.5 years later..... Also, spa parts can wear out, if you are not handy, you may have trouble getting parts or someone to repair a Costco unit. Spas are like pools and require weekly maintenance, there are several firms that offer this service if you do not want to do this yourself. We are currently using T&D, you will get lots of advice on this subject. We turn off the heaters at the end of spring and for the entire summer. I can usually get the temperature down to 80 degrees, and we us the spa to cool off during the summer. Hope you find this useful. |
