Gun Bill

Has anyone heard of this House Resolution?

HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009

Typical go-nowhere bill sponsored by an inner-city politician trying to look law-and-order and protector of the neighborhood.

Voting for it would be the kiss-of-death for any rural or semi-rural politician - Democrat or Republican.

I agree with SteveZ

The people want guns. The people are buying guns at a record pace.

Guns are the right of the American people. Our founders were very wise.

Then why are we confiscating guns in Iraq and Afghanistan? I think they need the NRA's help. If someone invaded your country I'm sure you wouldn't give up your gun!

Was that a serious question? I hope not.

As someone who had a concealed weapon pulled on them....I have a slightly different view.

I clearly will never understand why you need to take a concealed weapon into church or a bar.....

IF

If it is concealed you would not know it so why do you care.

You really should read the post before you respond. It was concealed until:

HE PULLED IT AND POINTED IT AT ME

I really cared when he did that.

Dead serious, to quote you, "The people want guns. The people are buying guns at a record pace.
Guns are the right of the American people. Our founders were very wise."

So please explain why law-abiding Iraqis and the Afghans don't have the same rights as Americans to bear arms. I bet you wouldn't turn your guns in if we were invaded by foreigners.

Do they have the same rights as Americans? If so and confiscation is not within the law. I guess I would be on their side. However, the last that I heard was that each Iraqi household was allowed to keep one AK-47 for home defense. In a war zone that does not seem that unreasonable.

I do not know what you did to cause a lawful ccw carrier to point a gun at you. If he had no cause then that is assault, bring charges. If he was not lawful then your whole argument seems like a ploy to advance a liberal agenda.

Cologal, what's the rest of the story?

Being a gun enthusiast and a trained liscensed to carry

citizen.....and member of several shooting organizations, world wide....I am aware of their almost impeccable record for safety.
I also understand there are abnormal incidents in any statistical universe...in this case those with CCW permits.

I would understand not wanting to discuss details of such a personal incident....but since it was offered for discourse it would be extremely helpful to understand how such an anomaly occurred.

I will say this in a general way and not pointed at Yoda....

If you look at the post I have to be in the wrong either I did something wrong to provoke the gun owner into pulling a gun or if he didn't have a license then it doesn't matter that he pulled the gun and I am just a liberal blowing smoke.

The point is HE DID HAVE A GUN IN HIS FANNY PACK AND HE PULLED IT OUT If he had shot and killed me would I be any less dead because he didn't have a license?

To answer the question what did I do?

I saw the man throwing rocks at a dog as I was driving by. I rolled down my window and told him to stop. I won't repeat what he replied. Nonplussed I pulled over, got out of my gun and got between him and the dog. Again told him to stop....when I turned around to return to my car he pulled the gun, in a true cowardly fashion. When I turned back I was looking at a BIG silver gun.

The rest of the story is I followed him home...then went to the police station reported the issue and ultimately he spent the weekend in jail because he couldn't make bail. So I did bring charges....even came home to testify but they gave him a plea deal....don't know what it was cause no one called me to let me know.

I will say again...On a liberal scale I am center left. Socially liberal and financially conservative.

I presume that you got out of youi car, not out of your gun. It sounds like you did nothing wrong. You took a chance. Azzholes are everywhere. There are people who should not carry guns, legal or otherwise. I have carried a gun since I was 21. I shot my first person when I was 21. I shot my last person when I was 21. Same guy. He tried to split my head with a crow bar. I was in uniform. I have protected or saved several people over the years with a gun . I would rather have a gun to defend myself from an azz with a gun than than try to outlaw guns. That would be like outlawing sex to protect against aids. It just won't work.
