Just was made aware that School Board members in Sumter County are paid over $32,000 annually. Lake County members receive over $37,000. Also eligible for pensions .
Came from a Maryland County approx. the same size as Lake with a similar student population. School Board members received $3500 ann. Needed extended service for pension. Hmmmmmmm!!! |

Sounds like Taxachusetts Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |
Midsize city in Illinois (120,000 population) and revenue of just north of 147 million the school board members receive no compensation.
|
No compensation in PA either to my knowledge. I just did some quick research and it does look like Florida may have the highest paid school board members overall. In most states it appears that they are unpaid positions.

No comp in NJ and you will have some out of pocket expenses.
But then why shouldn't someone be paid for their services? |

Yes, I do think that reasonable expenses should be covered. |
You didn't think these people were actually preforming a public service did you. Public sector is full of this all over country. Florida probably among worse.
|
This exactly why your taxes are so high. Public school is the biggest waste of taxpayers money for what student gets. Plus the cry all the time the don't have enough money. No public school super should make more that the president of th United States. board members verily part time job? Naturally they will boost their salaries just like politicians.

In Florida school superindents often receive salaries above $200000 with incentives. School boardmembers also receive the $32000 salary noted before. |
Cannot be paid more than $125 per session in Ohio.
Some forty years ago in our area it was a volunteer job.
