Local Charity Recommendations?

My wife and I recently moved back to TV. We have downsized considerably and have lots of goods that we would like to donate to a worthwhile charity.

We have also lost a significant amount of weight so we have both men's and women's clothing to donate.

Not interested in Goodwill or other profit making organizations, but would like to find a more local charity.

Thanks!

Contact the Sumter County Sheriff's Office (352-689-4600 in The Villages) and ask about donations to the Sheriff's Youth Ranch. They will even come to your home to pick up the donations. Ask them how to arrange for that.

There's also LOVE, Inc that has Centsible Furnishings up on 441/27 less than a mile north of 42. It's a joint effort of probably over 30 local churches. They have the store to raise money for local families in need, be it for gas money to find a job, money for a utility bill etc. Individuals are screened so you know the funds are being well used. If you are unable to bring the items to them, they will send a truck to pick it up. Lovely store.

There are families who live in the Ocala National Forest and basically, have nothing. They are beyond poverty stricken.
There is a pastor who collects food, clothing, etc., for them.
Unfortunately, I do not have any information regarding this man or the actual charity, but I am sure someone who reads this will know.
I hope that someone can provide this information.

Salvation Army came and got our leftovers from our garage sale. It took just 3 days to schedule them to come out. They left a receipt for taxes.
