People waving

After 10 years here .......Is it a fact or perhaps just my perception that fewer people wave to you as you pass on a cart or walking ?
Thoughts ?

I have an Ohio State emblem on the front of mine and a lot of people shout out to me. My sidekick Helene is usually with me and sometimes we will be having a conversation but I try to smile and wave at folks.

Kids were here during high season made a game out of counting golf carts that drove by while watching a shuffle board game in less than two hours stopped at 300. Your arm would be pretty sore if you waved that many times

I always wave and most people wave back. It might be that when you're new here it's a lot more noticeable. So many people wave that the perception is that everyone is doing it. As time goes by, you begin to see reality and it seems like fewer people wave.

we also have an Ohio State emblem on the front of our cart and people will yell O-H- and I am supposed to call back I-O but most of the time I am too late.. so if you yell O-H
to a cart and don't get a reply.. excuse me !!! haha.. I always. get a kick out of iti

I am used to waving, been living in NC for 25 years. Wasn't very much waving up in NY when I lived there though.

I'm from NYC. The only one who waves at strangers there is Mick Dundee :loco: Love it here but no, I do not wave at everyone.

Don't wave because I keep both hands on the wheel but I do smile. Not hard to do as I am enormously happy.

NYC has a population of millions. When in the city, it makes sense you don't wave as you just want to get where your going. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest of about 5,000, heck, we knew most everybody and waved all the time.

We have friends that once lived in a neighborhood on Long Island---they waved to residents in their neighborhood. We grew up waving so we still do it without even thinking. We wave even if you don't wave back. Wave---it's catching! Maybe next time you will wave too.

I've had a lot wave while passing by in carts with a five fingers, if they have them. I've also had the occasional one finger wave as they pass my cart with theirs! Life is good.

I think your perception that fewer people are waving now than few years back is wrong

Why not day passes that hand full of people give me the one finger wave. :a20:

:wave:It's not about the return wave, it's about having others who are out and about Living The Life Of Riley. Are we lucky or what? The whole thing is knowing how good we have it now, today instead of when it is to late. So wave back, don't wave, whatever does it matter, not if your fulfilled. People in NJ don't use their entire hand to wave.

I have found in general that people wave in small towns and areas of limited population but waive waving as population increases.
