new music club

I have been considering starting a new club in the villages as there currently doesn't appear to be one of this type available here yet. It will deal with the appreciation of "Doowop" music of the 50's and 60's. Basically it is vocal harmony of the era. Since many of us grew up with this music it seems a natural. Anyway I am doing a survey to try and find out what interest there is in this sort of club. I am also seeking a fellow doowop lover to assist in this endeavor. Let me know what you think and if anyone has an interest in helping.

He has sung with a Doo Wop group for almost 11 years and just recently left his group. YES...he would absolutely love to get involved with his music again when we get there. We will look for you!!!

Looking for an Echo

i think it must be available to rent. it think it takes place in the 90's. my cousin owned it on dvd and if you love doowop you should buy it and enjoy it many times with friends or even the new club....people from brooklyn will especially enjoy it...(like me)...good luck finding it...

The doowop club is an excellent idea! My husband is from Brooklyn and was raised on the harmonies. Let us know if you get it going, sounds fun.

We noticed a club listed about a year ago that met an afternoon per month
But have not noticed it on line or in the rec guide club list

When we finally get down for at least a semi permanent basis, we'll bring the thousands of 45's we collected in the 60's and 70's

up here in the Mid atlantic 'The Fabulous Hubcaps' keep the sounds alive quite well

looking forward to hearing when the club fires up again

There was a doo wop music club meeting on Fridays at 4PM at Laurel Manor. I was interested in it at one time, but I think it turned into being more of a dance. I could be wrong but you can check it out. I like your idea of more like a music appreciation club - maybe listening to some artists or even if there were some DVD's and then the club members who doo wop could perform. That would be fun.

I would definitely be interested. Sang doowop all through the 60's around Philadelphia area and "down the shore". Sang again in the 90's with the same group and also sang with my wife and her sister. We are renting in Hemmingway right now waiting for our house to be completed in Buttonwood. I'll be there.

Doowop music club

I never did start a club as there was one already starting. I joined in only to find it was more of a Karaoke club than anything else. I am going to go to the inaugural meeting of a new doowop club this wednesday at 6:30 at Truman rec. Yes, I know thats the night of the christmas tree lighting maybe I will try to squeeze both in.

New Doo Wop/Golden Oldies Club South

I have started a New Doo Wop Club. We met for the first time last Wednesday Eve at the Truman Rec on Canal St. We 1st & 3rd Wed of every month. We have singers who have sung in Doo Wop groups back in the 50's & 60's. We allow dancing. This is not a KARAKOE OR COUNTRY WESTERN CLUB.
We are hoping to estabish a five man Doo Wop Group. We right now need one person who can sing harmony, man or woman.
