Stokes fish mkt. retail

Went to Stokes Fish Market on Main St. In Leesburg yesterday. They have quite a bit of fish to choose from. They label each fish where it is from and if it's wild or farmed. I purchased 3 pounds of tilapia that was local they said for $3.99 per lb. I made some last night and it was divine. It didn't even smell like fish when I opened the package it was so fresh.

So that was my first and not last experience at Stokes Seafood.

Thanks for sharing. I was wondering if they were any good.

They offer free cooking classes. And they sell prepared fish to go.

Where can I buy steamed or live blue crabs? The one thing I miss about the Washington DC area.

Another good fish story.

I paid $6.99 a pound for catfish at Publix day before yesterday. It too was divine...(not to take away from your wonderful experience Kris), but this too was really good.

Likewise no fishy smell. Salt and peppered it, added a little garlic powder and shook it in a bag of Jiffy Cornbread Mix, fried it in oil. It was the best fish I had cooked in a long time.

Is this Friday? Am I Catholic? (not a very good one)

I will try your fish place, Missy Pie. Thank you for the heads up. xoxox

Thanks for the recipe, I've never thought of using Jiffy cornbread mix. Do you make your own tarter sauce, or perhaps you don't even use it.

We use two places for live blue claws. Bubba's Crab near the intersection of Rt 44 and Rt 441 across from the water tower. Call Randy @ 352-787-0105 to see what he has in stock. He usually has an ad in the Daily Sun with a coupon for $5 off for a bag of 120 clams from Cedar Key. He calls them middle necks, but they're closer to little necks. They're great either steamed or raw.

Also, get down to Brownwood for the farmer's market on Saturday mornings for live crabs. great flounder fillets and other types of fresh and frozen seafood.
