Looking for the person who has golf cart anti-theft device "Bulldog"
 

I did a Google and YouTube search, and there are many varieties of "bulldog anti theft" devices, so I am not sure I can help you. I am a retired professional electrical engineer, with extensive automotive background. It should have come with instructions, so I am assuming that you need help converting the automotive installation to golf cart installation. I may be able to help. Send me a PM with the specific model number of the unit that you bought, and I will see if I can download the instructions. Other option, you could stop by my house, village of Pinellas.

Maybe you have a link to the one you purchased. This looks good, I posted on here about a year ago that one of these would be great on a golf cart. However, with SR 44 so close to Brownwood, a thief with a trailer and a couple of friends can get away in no time. I quit driving my cart to the squares or shopping five years ago, I prefer an air conditioned car with a radio anyway. I use mine for golf only.

In Brooklyn they used be called "crook locks", had a car stolen with one of them installed and today with a battery operated grinder--chains & bars can be cut in under 30 seconds--best is a hidden ignition kill switch--but a good thief will most likely have his own ignition bypass switch

I have one. I modified it to fit the golf cart. I turn the steering wheel all the way to the left so if they want to roll it on a trailer, it only goes in circles. It won't stop a thief, but it might make them look for an easier target where their intentions would be less obvious. I will post pictures of the modification when I recover from a week in New Orleans and the subsequent record breaking drive home.

Thanks Villagetinker, it is model 2010, and does have an instructions sheet, but we had an issue about the best
place to mount it where it would be out of sight, and where the antenna would be straight, etc. We thought we
found the best place then (without actually mounting it) attached the lead wire to the + battery line, did a test,
and nothing happened. I am thinking it has to be mounted to do a true test though. I'll contact my neighbor, since
he's also interested in getting this to work, and will hope to take you up on your kind offer, at your convenience

I also seem to recall that when The Club was popular thieves would carry a can of Freon to spray the lock on the Club. They would then hit the lock with a hammer which shattered the lock. Was this true or urban legend?

True--an other urban legend was the ninth spark plug which was wire to the gas tank--had a disclaimer start @ your own risk--a guy in brooklyn made a lot of $$ selling those decals

Gas or electric? Golf carts have an unusual (my opinion) electrical system, especially the electric carts, so depending on how you connected it you may not have had good power. I assume the antenna is for a signal to a remote fob?

The club on golf cart brake peddle looks like it could just be kicked off due to nothing stopping it from sliding? IMO the best one would be GPS tracker, wth alarm when movement detected, and with sticker saying GPS protected. IMO the sticker alone would fend off 99% of small time thieves.

I've got boot, but even it's useless if you put it on the back tire. At least on the front it some what prevent forward movement but don't stop backwards movement it the can get it on trailor.

I bought one of these remote cutoff switches from the link below, and installed it with a friend (actually I just handed him what he needed). Hit the lock button and it kills all power, hit on and it restores it. May not stop theft, but it may slow them down enough to move on to the next cart. Mounts underneath the dash or under the seat. They have them for 12v, 36v, and 48 volt systems.

PJ and I have made contact, and I will be stopping by to install the alarm system, this is a 12 volt, looks like 2 lead system with a 4 button remote. All of the replies have been interesting and informative. Once this is completed, I will let everyone know how this worked out.
