Tipping

Ladies I need your advise. What percentage do you tip your hairdresser? Your nail person? I have no problem tipping 20% when dining out...but hair and nails....for some reason I just have a really hard time trying to decide:shrug:.
Thanks for your input.

I take into consideration the quality of the work done, whether the operator was chatty and friendly to me or if I were just another body on their assembly line. If the beautician pays attention to my instructions and does not scalp me or make me look like a fat boy, she gets 20%. If I am unhappy with the job, I make it less and never return to her place again. My experience with the nail places here in Slidell has led me to a very nice young Vietnamese family who try so hard to converse with each customer even in their halting English. They do a wonderful job of work and the nails dont come off so I am a good tipper to them. I think it depends on the quality of the work and the attitude of the operator. But I always tip because I know how little they make.

Anyone else have any thoughts on tipping:shrug::shrug::shrug:Does this mean most of you tip less:shrug::shrug::shrug:

I woud like to revive this thread while we are discussing tipping. This one has always been a difficult one for me. also how do you tip the owner of the shop if she is the one who does your hair? I like to be a good tipper as I know they are not paid well (excluding the owner), but for a perm and cut for example whch costs $80 would you give $16.00? Seems like an expensive hairdo!

My cut and color is $120 and I tip $25.

starflyte1 05-26-2012 05:31 PM

20% for all service

Wow

Go to the barbershop. $12 rather than $120 :)

I agree. Even if I don't like their service, if they are friendly and try to do a good job, I will tip 20%. I just won't return to them.

We're talking minimum wage earners. In today's economy, people have to pay the same bills we all have to pay. Imagine walking a mile in their shoes. Give 'em a break!

20%

My cut and color is $75 and the hairdresser that I have, used to work for Tuscany. I paid WAY more at Tuscany and still get her fabulous quality at the lower price. I still tip her the same tip I spent at Tuscany. $20

I agree! Tried to tell my wife that but she has a hearing problem.

Haircut yesterday, shampoo and style was 43 dollars at Dimensions at Colony Plaza. I gave Yani eight dollars because that is what I had in real cash in my purse.

I wish he would quit making me look like an old lady.

I keep telling him...Angelina Jolie............

Remember,

always, always 20% for any services. If you can't afford to tip decently, then take yourself to the barber for a less expensive cut, but still tip 20%.

Schaumburger 06-02-2012 11:23 PM

This TV wannabee also tips 20%. My grey hair is coming in larger quantities and faster now, so by the time I get to my hairdresser she has more work to do :). I also tip 20% where I get a pedicure.
