Gas dryer shut off valve
Does anyone know if the newer homes have a shut off valve for the gas dryer line? Have a dryer coming and not sure what I need for them to hook it up, I want to be prepared.

IMHO, I think you'd know if your gas dryer line didn't have a shut off valve.

I'm not there as my furniture isn't there yet, still in Ohio but ordered the washer/dryer. I would not have asked if I could simply look at it.

I remember the agent saying that the laundry has a "capped" gas line and vaguely remember seeing it but don't remember the valve. I think I'll call the warranty department and see if they can send me in the right direction. Thanks for the replies.

That was quick. Called warranty and they referred me to Mike Scott Plumbing. They told me the valve is behind the wall in a "boxed area" that is easily accessible. Now I know why I couldn't remember seeing it.
Thanks again |
How can the valve be easily accessible if it is behind the wall? I have a gas dryer here in our Villages home and, to be honest, I didn't know there was a shut off valve specifically for the dryer. I thought the valve at the A/C - Heater unit in the garage closed off all gas into the house. That was how the main gas line in our NJ home was set up. I'm confused about this. Someone, please enlighten me. Thanks.

When I get back next week I'll send you a photo you will then be enlightened.
