N.Y. workmans comp!Help

Good morning, new here.Hoping to get information from others.Thank you in advance. Here is the situation.

I received settlement from New York Workmens Compansation. Injury occurred when working for a township on LI. I now find I need further medical intervention. According to comp no issue as long as the medical persons take N.Y. comp. Here lies the problem I cannot find an M.D. in Florida who will work with N.Y. Comp. I know I cannot be the only one Who lives here and is unable to travel back north.

If anyone has any helpful advice or knows doctors willing to work with this please let me know. Have a good day.

Try UFHealth in Gainesville.

I don't know for sure, but call Dr. Frank Paiano, 314 B La Grande Blvd., The Villages, FL 352-633-0778 He is a New Yorker who is practicing medicine here. Family practice/internest. Good luck. Kathy

Would S.H.I.N.E be able to answer this? Wouldn't hurt to call since they work with folks answering INS. questions.

You could try contacting NY comp, and see if they have any Florida doctors listed....

I wouldn't be surprised if you had to return to a NY doctor for care and suspect that would be true for any states workman comp claims.

FromNY, I cannot follow which comments you are commenting on, so maybe I was not clear, when you contact NYcomp, did you ask if you can use a Florida doctor, if so are there specific requirements. If the Florida doctor will not accept payment from NYcomp, can you pay the doctor, and then file a claim to get paid? Bottom line when you talk to NYcomp, did you ask them if they can work with you on your doctor visits.
Hope this helps.

I have the same issue, injured in NY and trying to find doctors who will accept NYS Workers' Compensation as payment. What really stinks is that I am in pain and need a pain management doctor, who, due to the increase in the abuse of drugs prescribed by these doctors, are hesitant to treat anyone properly. They tend to wrongfully prescribe the same medicines that the internist prescribed back when the injury happened (NSAIDs instead of Pain Meds)!!
