Complaint about Urologist Specialists in Oxford

In order to have my doctor write a prescription, on Wednesday, around 2pm, after several attempts, someone picked up the phone and told me that my doctor was in surgery and to call back on Thursday.
When I called back on Thursday, I was told that he was doing clinics and wouldn't be back until Friday.
On Friday, again after several attempts, someone told me that the doctor told her that he can not write the "script".
I then called the pharmacy that I had left a copy of my check with on Tuesday to have them call the doctor's office to clear up their issue and expedite the "script".
To confirm that they had spoken to someone at the doctor's office, the pharmacy called me back and told me they were told that it would be written and faxed to them.
Then, at around 3pm, I called the doctors office to see that they had spoken to the pharmacy and were "okay" to write the "script".
I was told that there wasn't any doctor there to write the prescription and to call back on Monday - 5 days after my first attempt to have a prescription written by their office.
If you're being "treated" like this - may I suggest you change doctors.
Sincerely,
Frustrated Senior

Was it for pain medication?

We have had excellent results with the doctors at this Urology Clinic and I am sorry you have been treated this way. HOWEVER, in your shoes, I would have hot footed it around to the receptionist's desk and stood there until I got some satisfaction. Perhaps you were too sick to do that.

Would it have been possible for you to get this medication from a local Emergency Clinic. I think if you had explained to someone at one of the Emergency Clinics what your problem was, they may have been able to help you.

Was it for a schedule 2 controlled medication?

Unfortunately some of the offices have staffs that are not the best at customer service. I think this is becoming a trend although we have one doctor who's staff goes above and beyond in working out problems.

It's your money and your health. The best way to show your dissatisfaction is to take your business and walk elsewhere. And let the know you are leaving because of poor custoemr service.

The problem is that you are not the customer. The insurance company is the paying customer.

Not true...

if a patient doesn't go into the office they can't charge.

I do like Dr. Taub at Urology Associates, but you're right, the staff is horrible. Among the worst I've ever seen. I'm glad I seldom have to go there.

He is my doc and has been for the 11 years I lived here. He and his staff have been nothing but professional.

I suspect other posters may have focused in on the "nature/cause" of the OP's difficulty

Actually Bryan has a valid point. My urologist, and a very good one, is in this practice. A friend was going to this same doctor, but elected to get a second opinion, and sought treatment elsewhere. My friend called the first practice to let them know he was switching urologists.

My urologist called my friend, left my friend his cell number, and asked that my friend pick a time to meet with him. The purpose of the stated meeting was for my friend to provide constructive criticism about the practice and recommendations for my urologist.

This is a physician who really cares about his patients and his practice.

so youre upset because you didnt make an appointment, and wanted the doctor to call a prescription in for you? what about everyone else the doctor has to see and take care of? should he put them on the back burner to make someone who doesnt have a scheduled appointment a priority?

I have been going there for about 4 years and I have great respect for the Doctors I have seen and the staff. I only wish I could say that about some of the other Doctors in the area.

I agree. Except I have been going there 15 years.
