It seems like a ridiculous statistic. How can anyone possibly rank 1000 players with any accuracy?

It is simply the result of a formula that uses as input the tournaments you played in, where you finished, strength of the field, etc. over a moving 2 year period. You can google it if you want more details.

I'd rather watch the new guys coming up than all the announcers fawning all over Woods when/if he ever plays again.

Jeeze...who honestly cares? A sports talent pales in comparison to a great parent, a wonderful teacher, a fine doctor or a great policeman. How superficial are you to spend so much time on a sports figure????

Sports figures can be wonderful people, or bums...just like parents, teachers, doctors or policeman..

And part of being a wonderful person, imho, is to not look upon others too harshly for insufficient reason.
