Anyone know what has been sprayed on the MMP's north and south of 466a?

It's some kind of petroleum based product that gets slick when it gets wet.

It's some petro based fluid. I know it was done on the cart paths north of 466 last month or so. It does look like it would present a problem when the surface gets wet.

My tires on my cart have real good tread on them and several times coming to a stop the cart has started to slide a little bit.

Our cart tires have real good tread as well and you can definitely feel the difference when the paths are wet. I just drive a little more slower and hope others do the same.

I was on a section today with my bicycle and was wondering if it had been resurfaced. I will tell you, it felt slick and it probably and accident just waiting to happen.

Try visiting Welcome Wednesday each Wednesday at 11 AM at the District Offices Main Conference Room over Starbucks at Sumter Landing. Meetings are open to the public. District Property Management gives an update on the MMP resurfacing progress and has all the answers about what is used, who applies it, etc.

I believe you will find that it's coal tar. Much cheaper than asphalt.

golf cart tires are designed for driving on golf courses not roads==you'll never see any ratings for temperature, traction, and hot surfaces

Most golf cart don't have golf course tires, they have over size road tires. Golf cart tires have excellent traction on or off the grass. Oil base sealant on MMP will make traction problems for any type of tire. The smart thing to do would be slow down till the oil product gets soaked into the asphalt.

Actually from what some guy who claimed to be an engineer told me a couple weeks ago when we were slipping and sliding while WALKING from Amelia to LSL it isn't a resurfacing but something that is supposed to keep the pathway from drying out and falling apart from the extreme heat. It didn't add any surface like you see in a parking lot resurface just a penetrating fluid like (as he described it) like skin moisturizer. Sure stinks like asphalt mixed with oil.

Interesting, I see this is tracking onto the cart lane on Pinellas Place, I wonder if that area will be slippery also?

Thank you; for those of us that do drive our carts off the course and onto the MMP's, please be careful, especially if they're wet.
