Can you trade in your car on a golf cart?

Hope this isn't a stupid question. We're going to have too many cars when we move. We're going to buy a golf cart once we're down there and we were wondering if any of the golf cart dealers took full sized automobiles as trade ins on the purchase of a cart?

Not sure why you are asking this here

There are plenty of places selling used and new golf carts.
A few phone calls and I would not be surprised if you could find a dealer who would do this.

To my surprise, my chevy dealer Nahas has had used golf carts for sale. I assume he got them from a similar trade to what you are asking about.

You do not say what car you have what it's value is and what kind of golf cart you desire.

Obviously, the most flexible way would be to sell you car and then buy a golf cart.

No idea, but some info on Nahas

I know someone (and have slept with her for 35 years) who won the SPCA hot air balloon golf ball drop. The winning prize was a golf cart. She asked me to go check it out.

It was an older CC electric (which I own 2) with middle of the road batteries. I recommended she sell it, George offered her a number to use the cart around the lot.

I almost blew the deal trying to ask for a bit more as the money was going to be donated to the SPCA. Luckily with some grovelling I was able to sell the cart without having to put it in the paper just to get a couple of hundred dollars more..

So... in response to your post, he does have golf carts to drive people around the lot and I happen to know where he got one :)

Just list your car for sale here on talk of the villages. Well priced cars sell quickly because villagers are known to take good care of their cars.

Then buy a new cart, or a used cart advertised here.

You could also put an ad on here offering to trade. You never know....

The Village Golf Carts does not do trade ins...at least not when I moved in, in 2013. Why don't you just ask a cart dealer? Asking here would be a long shot as people hi-jack posts for their own reasons.

have you considered selling extra car's before you move so you don't have the expense of title transfer and licenses. I was shocked at how expensive it was. WE sold our extra car on TOTV in 10 minutes!! Then we bought the newest Yamaha Golf cart on the market, yes, gas since the villages is getting so big. We do not miss having 2 cars and find we use the golf cart more than we used the 2nd car! Good luck with your move and the decisions.

If you go to KBB.com (Kelly Blue Book) and look up the wholesale price of your car, that includes listing mileage, options and condition, Carmax dealers will give you that price on the spot after a brief test drive. I had to sell two cars when my parents passed away and I got exactly the price on both to the penny. Carmax locations are all over the country, this takes out the problems associated with Craig's List, private ads in the newspaper, etc. The closest to TV is in Sanford, about 90 minutes east of here, there is an Automax in Ocala, but I don't know if they operate the same.

Members of my family have used Carmax, as have I. I would not hesitate to use them again.

BTW, one can trade a car for anything. When I first got married I traded my new wife's car for a boat!

As A LSV "low speed vehicle " dealer we at Sta-Rite Carts offer auto trade ins for golf carts. The New or used Cart we sell does not need to be street legal.

Thanks John, I did not know that. I will find the nearest Carmax dealer and trade my car for cash before we move. Much easier than paying to move it and then trying to trade or sell it down there. Much appreciated.

IMO Any time you trade you take I'd up the €%#. IMO you would be better off selling car before you move in state it's license in than bringing it to Florida expense getting it here, transferring titles, paying property taxes and then taking another up the --- trading. IMO I would just sell it out right. Even if you take beating IMO you will still be ahead.

Earlier a couple of us posters did recommend selling his car beforehand, and Carmax would be a good option. The OP wrote in post #10 that would be exactly what he was going to do.
