Is The Villages your home, now?

Do you live here full time or part time. Do you have a feeling of coming home when you return to The Villages?

What is the one thing you like best about The Villages?

The Villages FEELS like home to us now. My husband would probably answer that Golf was his favorite thing, but to ME, I love the beauty; the mix of houses and green spaces and the cleanliness.

How about you?

I close on my new home in TV of Pinellas in one month. I thought my home here in New England would have sold by now but it hasn't. So disappointing. Anyway, I am looking forward to the day I can call TV my home. What I like about TV is it's beauty, safety, lots of friendly people, and with so much recreation available I should never get bored.

I live here full time but my heart remains in Ohio where most of my kids live. I like the beauty and cleanliness of TV

Home Sweet Home for sure.

The best thing.............My Bride.
(just in case)

After her..............
Our neighbors.
Golf Cart Life.
The Beauty of the area.
Really enjoy all the golfers I meet on the course.
Love learning more about lobsters.

((Sorry GG, went over the limit))

This is home, for 11 years now. It did take a little bit of time to feel like it was home and I wasn't on vacation...;). The place is beautiful, and as time has passed, there are more shops, stores, businesses locating in the area. There is more traffic, but still much less than we were dealing with in CA. There's activities, events, within our community and also in those small and large cities near us. Have many friends here, and we share a common bond...we left where we lived to specifically move to this community. I'm thankful every day, we did.

I think that the people that live here offer unending stories of success. Some have raised amazing children, some have been pioneers in all kinds of ways. I love to listen to the journey of life that brought them here.

I've always made anywhere I've lived, home.

After retirement, I followed my wife (in her career) to SW Missouri, south Louisiana, back to eastern Missouri and then across the state to western Missouri. Every place has been home.

Even though we really miss being close to the kids and grandkids, we really enjoy everything that TV has to offer and can't wait to get back inside the bubble every time we leave. It's the pinnacle of golf for us.

Every one I know, and it has only been a few, who found The Villages not to their liking, was able to sell their property here at a profit, quickly, and go where they felt more comfortable.

This is easy to prove. There are 53 homes in our Village which is just now six years old. The handful of people who sold made a huge profit, our across the street neighbors got almost a hundred thousand dollars more after having lived here for less than three years.

It’s the rare house that one would make hundreds of thousands on. About like telling a kid he is sure to become a major league baseball player and make millions. Of course we all have our fantasies.

I have seen most break even or gain a very modest amount on the sale of there home in TV during the past four years after examining all of the cost.

Home is where I now live so TV will be called home. Where I will die has yet to be foretold.

The further north a house is located in TV, the less home appreciation to be expected. Huge bargains to be had north of 466 on golf/water front. My Aunt bought/built her designer 14 years ago in Woodbury. House still can't appraise for what she paid for it then.
The future of TV is the Brownwood area, ask any TV sales agent. Despite the negatives people said about Brownwood several years ago, the tables have recently changed.

I went to The Villages site and found a home in Woodbury; the second one listed today on the site.

It is a patio villa and in 2014 when it was built, it sold for $117, now the going rate for patio villa's is right around $180. I chose it because I have been watching and remembering how much this model has gone up...all over The Villages. A friend bought one in Alhambra now four years ago and he paid much more than he had expected, but not so much as they are selling for now.

I follow this, not because I am in real estate, but because it interests me.

I will now go look for a designer in Woodbury.

Many homes in Mission Hills have. sold for over 30-50% profit. It's not impossible I guess timing is everything.

When people ask about The Villages my answer is FUN!

graciegirl 07-30-2017 05:26 PM

I love that I have the time to explore fun things that I had never tried before. Since I moved here I have tried colored pencils, acrylic paints and water colors and attended my first ever post high school art class. The level of skill in the arts here is amazing, not only visual arts, but music and theater too.

Anyone who doesn't know this, there might be a few. If you want to know the selling history of a home log into Sumterpa.com Or Marion County or Lake County property appraiser site. Be sure it is Florida. On Sumter's site, do not put the last part of the address, such as circle, drive, boulevard.

Now I have hi jacked my own thread.
