There have been several interesting developments in battery technology. There is a company named Ionic Material that has developed some new battery technology.

There is no doubt that the world is moving toward renewable energy. Plus there is significant growth in disconnected electrical and electronic devices... both of which will benefit from improvements in battery technology.


France and the UK intend to require all vehicles sold in those countries to be "Zero Emission" by 2040. One of Germany's major industry (exports) is automobiles. They intend to make the transition to "Zero Emission" by 2030. I suspect germany wants to be ahead of the curve, since many European countries buy german cars. IOW, better to have more "real life" experience than less experience when it comes to competition in global markets.

Volvo recently announced that by 2019, all of their cars will have an electric motor (i.e., hybrid or electric).


Interesting "recent" Nova Documentary about the quest for battery improvement/advancement. There is a segment about Ionic Material's new Lion Battery technology. Some of the devices/mechanisms used to store energy, are not like conventional batteries we use in our homes.
