Tried and Found Guilty On-line
 

The on-line news had the article regarding the arrest yesterday of a Villager who was accused of rape of a 16 year old girl last summer.

No one except the two individuals know what really happened. However, the comments of the on-line news posters had every solution ranging from prison to castration.

Posting the picture of the man, his name, and address seems irresponsible to me. He has been presumed guilty without even having had the opportunity to tell his side.

Are we ever going to know the entire story? Obviously, this is not going to do anything for his standing in his neighborhood or within his circle of friends.

He may be guilty as sin; the teen age girl may be lying; only they know.

You are right, you know, that none of us know and I was the one suggesting castration if this is true. I think that there well could be two sides to the story, but oh how it brought out a gut reaction to many, including me. Ugly and disgusting if true.

Yes she could have lied about her age,but it did say her boyfriend could come down to visit if she complied. I have no tolerance for people who abuse children. My son and daughter in law are foster parents to children who have been abused and I can't stand people that harm children.

i prefer to wait until all of the available facts are in before I develop an opinion.

As a rule, I stay away from news such as this. Let the courts do what they do.

It's on online news website that cannot be named on TOTV. Not a pleasant story to read.

Gracie, I was really surprised of you to pass judgment on anybody, before they are found guilty.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Yes, there could be two sides to the story, BUT, he is an adult and she is still considered a minor. He is supposed to know better and even if she was to one at fault that "started" the interaction. He should have never let it happen.

Iy does seem unfair in these case that the identity of the alleged victim is shielded, but the identity of the alleged perpetrator is splashed all over the news.

If this man is innocent, there is still a good chance that his life will be adversely affected.

PERSONAL EXPERIENCE-many years ago I had CHILD PROTECTION SERVICES seize a JOINT BANK ACCOUNT based on a claim from a woman in North Carolina for her kid.

I did not know her, the kid was not mine. In the end it was an error by CHILD PROTECTION SERVICE and my BANK. My bank wanted to charge me LEGAL EXPENSES. Child protection services asked me for a copy of my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER so they could straighten it out. I had the name of the damn fool who asked for that. I told her she should send me her's and I would send her mine-SHE HUNG UP. In the end, after getting this all corrected, I INSISTED ON AN APOLOGY LETTER FROM THE BANK PRESIDENT AND CHILD PROTECTION SERVICES signed by each person involved. I STILL HAVE THAT-IT IS A TROPHY.

We have allowed ZEALOTS in such well intentioned groups WITH FAR TOO MUCH UNCONTROLLED POWER, to become monsters.

In the mentioned event-ASSUMING THE GUY IS INNOCENT-he will not be able to sue the news source as they like CHILD PROTECTION SERVICES have become or have always been too powerful. The solution-unfortunately there is no easy one. The press is protected under freedom of the press-TO SUE THEM IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
