Does anyone have Straight Talk landline home phone?
 

Thinking about getting rid of CenturyLink's outrageous landline bill and looking at Straight Talk landline phone for $15.00 a month.

It looks like you can get either Verizon or AT&T service depending on what area you live in. I'm up by Mulberry Plaza so I have no idea which is best.

Can anyone help me out there and does anyone already have Straight Talk??

Bought this for my father in law who lives in hilltop estate on 42. The modem was $49.99 and the monthly is $15. Works great for him.

We have a straight talk home phone. We live in Village of Hillsborough. It uses Verizon. I like it as we can take it with us when we are up North in the Summer.

I have one. It worked fine till the power went out for 4 hours last Monday. It only works until the internal battery in the Straight Talk unit dies and it will only work while power is out with a phone that does not have a base unit that plugs in the wall. I went to Staples yesterday and bought a small APC battery backup unit for $40 and connected the Straight Talk unit and my phone base unit. I figure this will give me power for 16 hours.

We have a Ooma and it works very good. Only pay the taxes each month of about $4. Tried Magic Jack and Straight talk, Ooma is better in my opinion and cheaper. Bought it AT Best Buy for about $100 a few years back.

Isn't Straight Talk just a no contract prepaid telephone? We've been using AT&T Go phone. We bought the phone for $10 on sale at Walgreens about five years ago. I just looked at Walmart and they are now $19.99 but they do have sales. I buy 1000 minutes for $100 and it's good for 12 months. That's it, no taxes, no extra costs, unless you can talk more. We usually have a lot of time each year left and they started having roll-over with your minutes.

The first time when I bought the phone I called AT&T to set up the account. They gave me a phone number, I put $100 on my credit card and they mailed me a sim to put inside the phone. Haven't had any reason to call them since. Once a year I go online to my account page and buy another 1,000 minutes for $100. They have regular smart phones but the minutes are more expensive and I have a home computer for that. If you want just a simple flip phone, this is a great plan. Here's the phone I got for $10.

I had similar thing with T Mobile. Never used the 1000 minutes but TMobile rolled over minutes if you purchased more minute B4 yearend. Originally thought I had to buy another $100 but found out min purchase of $10 would roll over the remaining minutes for another year.

Unfortunately AT&T won't let you get away with that since the length of time is based upon what you spend. For example $25 will get you 3 months, I go with the $100 since I don't have to do anything for 12 months. I also have a lot of minutes, I think 900 minutes this year rolled over.

I still have two flip phones with those T-Mobile "legacy" plans. They only cost me $20 a year. I keep them in the cars because I don't like to carry my smartphone all the time.

Straight Talk landline is really a cell phone base you plug your wireless home phone base into. Bought a refurbished at Walmart for $15 or $20. Verizon towers. Take it north for the summers. It works fine. You can keep your old number. You can buy a wireless Panasonic phone that will continue to function off the hand held battery but as pointed our earlier for only a short time. We have a need for multiple wireless phones through out the house.

We use att for our home line. Move it from one house to another, have lost power for 10 days at a time with no issues. It's $19.50 a month. This is our 5th year and use it while on call for work. Its our same home phone number when we had Ma Bell 25 years ago
