Information re: Publix
Today I was purchasing groceries at the new Publix on 44 by the Rohan Rec. Center. The man who helped load my car was chatting with me re: the stores in T.V. He said the store at Colony is the largest (which I wouldn't have known as it seems small). He said that it will be remodeled starting in October to (perhaps) be more like that new store---which is considered "open warehouse". Just a head's up for the folks that shop at Colony. It may be a bit "more" congested while they're undergoing the renovation.

Not to worry, the Walmart supermarket across the street, to be open soon will be glad to receive any spillover. [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I think he meant Colony did the most volume....not physical size. The Deaton store is physically larger and was built that size to anitcipate growth below 44 and completion of Fruitland Park.

I shop mostly at the Traverse Publix, that's the newest that opened in 2014. I remember reading in the Sun that it would only be 46,000 sf and that Colony was about 55,000 sf in comparison. This is off the top of my head, at the time I worried if the Traverse store would be big enough. However, I found the Traverse is just the right size for the amount of shoppers and also easier to find items. The Deaton Plaza store I've only shopped at twice but it has to be closer to 60,000 sf, the layout is very much like Mulberry Publix, where the wine section is in the back right where the other locations have more produce. They seem to funnel people to this narrow area making the wine section much more noticeable.
