High humidity and clogged dryer vents.

Just a reminder to newbies;

It is wise to have your dryer vents cleaned about once a year. The humidity really encourages clog ups. May be why your dryer isn't drying things well.

Every 3 years is plenty, unless you do daily laundry

Thanks, Gracie. Great reminder to add to our chore list when we get down there next month.

Wish I had seen your post about two months ago! Our dryer wasn't drying clothes. I have a long handled brush that I used to shove down the lint filter on the dryer but it wasn't THAT long. It did loosen up some lint, but the dryer still wasn't drying clothes. Went outside and found the exhaust absolutely CLOGGED with lint to the point that very little exhaust was coming through. I swear there was at least an inch of lint built up. As soon as I cleaned that out and shoved the brush in there, VOILA! Dryer working beautifully! I now check it often.

Your tips are always so helpful!

If your clothes don't seem to be drying as fast as they did in the past.
It may be an indication that your dryer vent is clogged.
Most dryers have a sensor that will shut down the gas valve
or electric heating element to prevent a fire.
When that happens heat needed for drying is not present.

Look on Youtube at Dryer Fires. They are totally preventable. There is a whole lot of lint that you can't see or get to that can cause you a major problem. Once a year, cheap insurance to protect your home and family. Your clothes dry in a fraction of the time also. Write it down and do it. There is somebody who is highly recommended on TOTV'S who handles this duty very well and at a fair price. I have to investigate to find him.

He also asked us if we wanted them to install new batteries for our smoke detectors. (We supplied the batteries.) If we'd needed light bulbs replaced, they would have also done them.
