If This Were Football...........
I am relatively new to the Politics Forum, so am only now starting to recognize behavior that deserves condemnation.
I will speak in a metaphor. In the rough and tumble game of football there are rules that are intended to keep the game fair. I'm not referring to the rules of handling the ball, and advancing it down the field, but rather the rules of player's personal conduct. For example, there is a rule against "Taunting." There is a rule against "unnecessary roughness." There is a rule against "piling on" after a tackle. I am seeing posts that relate to these offenses. I can only wonder what cruel streak exists in some people that produces such practices. I suspect that being anonymous to the other posters is one factor. Surely our community of posters would not be so rude to a person in a face to face conversation. Also, do these hurtful posts indicate a lack of empathy on the part of the posters? That shows a personality deficiency in the posters. Why would you want to inflict emotional distress on a person just because you disagree with their positions or find them irritating? This plea may fall on deaf ears, but I am appealing for more civility and less abuse in future posts, in particular in posts to those among us who are the most vulnerable to hurt. Carl in Tampa . |

This is Tal. I hate it that people reading the Political Forum would get the idea that these people are typical Villagers. I have lived here since June 2005 and no one I have met in person is anything like some of the extremes you see on the Political Forum in terms of cruelty, racism, and other very negative features like sociopathological postings. |
No Carl...there is already the woman's forum for kittens and unicorns...where everything and everybody is happy all the time...and everyone gets a prize.
Politics is a "man's" endeavor...can't take it...get out. We're not lowering the standards for women and minorities here too. |

A "man." Really?
Quote:
General Robert E. Lee was hosting a formal dinner party for some of his top staff officers, and a few officers of lower grade. At one point a junior officer got the attention of the entire group and told an "off color" joke. He was embarrassed when no one laughed. In an attempt to cover his embarrassment, the officer said, "Well, at least there were no ladies present." General Lee replied, "No, Lieutenant. But there are gentlemen present." ----------------------------- Anyone who feels a need to be rude, abusive, or cruel to demonstrate their "manhood" is pathetic indeed. Carl in Tampa . |

If you are not pulling our legs then I can't even hazard a guess of what drives you. But personally speaking for myself all I can do is pray that someday you gain insight into the damage you inflict on yourself Personal Best Regards: |
