2 books in respect to senior's and the "new retirement"...
 

I am quite a bit younger than retirement age, but was very interested in the set-up of The Villages from seeing commercials over and over while watching golf on tv. I have enjoyed the website and have read Leisureville: Adventures in America's Retirement Utopias and a unrelated book Early Bird: A Memoir of Premature Retirement to get a "feel" for how The Villages works on a day to day basis (and to hopefully banish any preconceived ideas I have about who seniors are nowadays).

I found Leisureville a real hatchet job. It read to me like this guy just picked the people who were a bit more "unusual" or labelled a "character" who may have a hard time fitting in...There seems to be so much to do, that naturally if you have the slightest inkling to be social/kind in public, you can make friends/aquaintances?

It sounds very interesting there.

The Villages is an extremely interesting place and defies description. You have to visit (lifestyle preview) to understand just how huge and wonderful and friendly TV really is. There is just nothing comparable.

We spend 182 days in TV every winter (which is, sadly, the amount of time that the US government permits Canadian "aliens" to stay in the USA even if they own a home there).
