Irma on my mind

Actually, its effects have been on my mind since purchasing a home in TV. Now that I am a permanent resident having sold my home in Ohio, I can’t as easily flee so I am revisiting several previous discussions. They are a Lake Deaton Flood and Helter-skelter Where to take shelter

I believe that chances of flooding around Lake Deaton are slim because of the preplanning to mitigate the risks. That said I now look at some parts of Houston that felt safe and were not.

The hurricane strength winds should diminish over TV. But, hurricanes do spawn tornadoes which could and have hit TV. As my house is less than 5 years old, many newer construction techniques have been applied to help it survive a low magnitude tornado with little damage I hope. Still haven’t decided on what space in the house would be the best to hunker down in.

My luck would probably have it that I can’t seek shelter from the flooding by going to the roof as the roof was removed by the tornado. That said we will surely have clear skies next Tuesday.

My heart is beating fast

I'm concerned too, Twoplane. We can't decide where to go for safety, given the track could change. 120+ mile an hour winds scare me......cat3 winds 111-129. I can't imagine getting any sleep during this time...😞😞

Count me in too. Having moved from the northeast, I'm not used to not having a basement to hide in when I hear the word tornado. Where do we hide?

I went through Katrina. My home was 101 miles from the coast and yet............https://scontent-mia3-2.xx.fbcdn.net...a2&oe=5A1EC579

We had our Queen palm trimmed yesterday, yet I have been told their root system isn't that deep. If it topples over, I guess we'll get a new roof.
