No water to villa

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
We are snowbirds and our long time, reliable housewatch folks informed us today that when they went in to our villa to turn on water and flush toilets there was no water feeding to house.
Called Water Utility and they are going to check it out next week.
Said they are responsible from street to meter.
Fortunately we are not there now so no emergency.
But like I said wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what was cause/result.

I am also a snowbird and just found out we do not have water. Are you in Mallory

scoreboard 09-28-2017 02:43 PM

We are in Duval.

coffeebean 09-28-2017 03:43 PM

Is it only homes that are not occupied that do not have water?

scoreboard 09-28-2017 04:36 PM

I don't know. Just heard about ours today from Homewatch.
Just wondering if there is an outage or this is isolated.

 I am confused (again). Have you called a neighbor on either side of your vacation home? They could tell you if they have water. Then you would know if it is an outage or isolated. When did your home watch last turn your water on? I would think it is done weekly.

mirage - same questions to you.

The answer will be very interesting so I hope you all post.

I turn my water off to avoid problems but since you have a home watch checking I assume the water is not turned off at the house.

A good home watch company will turn the water off between visits.

Me too.

If I had no water and I was way off campus, I would call my neighbors first to see if it was limited to my home.

Please get back to us and tell us what happened. My first guess is that your water was turned off by someone...

When we were seasonal, we kept the water off all the time. Each time my sister and her husband came to check the house on a weekly basis, they turned on the water to flush toilets and run water in the sinks. Before they would leave the house, they would turn off the main water. I would never have been able to leave our home for 9 months with the water left on. I don't leave the water on when we go on a week vacation.

You said your reliable Housewatch folks said there is no water feed to your house.
I'd contact District Utilities Customer Service at 352-750-0000 to see if it's a problem in your area.
They will probably have suggestions for you.

Not sure who turned it off Water bill is paid so it should not have been turned off Will call the water dept in the morning as we have visitors coming to stay

scoreboard 09-29-2017 07:42 AM

Our water is always turned off when we leave for season and turned on by Homewatchand then turned back off.
Have water utility coming out next week to see what problem is. Hopefully they will find a simple solution.
Will keep everyone posted.

Sounds to me like someone turned the water off in the garage.

justjim 09-29-2017 08:44 AM

"Check it out next week", that seems odd that it wouldn't be checked out sooner rather than later. :024:
