Why do they say "Worst Shooting in Modern American History?"

Did a worse one happen in medieval American history?
Maybe. But there is would be no record of it except for a large grave of some kind. And that probably would have been tribe on tribe or tribe on settlers like at Roanoke Colony. Roanoke Colony - Wikipedia

“A war of extermination will continue to be waged between the two races until the Indian race becomes extinct.”

Sir Jeffrey Amherst, commander-in-chief of British forces in North America, wrote to Colonel Henry Bouquet at Fort Pitt:

“You will do well to try to inoculate the Indians [with smallpox] by means of blankets, as well as to try every other method, that can serve to extirpate this execrable race.”

All of what you say is indeed tragic. However that was then and this is now. Perhaps we should start at the beginning when Cain slay Able and move forward in time.
Today millions of people are massacred, enslaved, in imprisoned or driven from their lands.

It would be a wonderful thing to be able to prevent all of these sort tragedies in the future but past seems to be prologue

Personal Best Regards:

Chicago is one continuous massacre.
Ongoing, year after year.
750 +
2016
8 Dead, at Least 35 Wounded in Chicago Labor Day Weekend Shootings.

I wonder if that was Vegas, would that be allowed to go on.

The United States didn't exist as a nation during the medieval period. And it's the worst "mass shooting" by and individual in Americas recorded history.

Wounded Knee seems to be more of an army action than the work of a loner or two or three individuals. There are many of these kind of massacres in US history and that of the colonies. Some involving slaves or former slaves. As well as African-Americans building their own towns.

It's European thing, look what the Spanish did to south, Central America, and Mexico. All for greed of gold. It called I proclaim this land for? Then, the elimination begains. If it's worth anything.

And the search for the Fountain of Youth. Fountain of Youth - Wikipedia Which might just have been a ruse to get the support of various Kings and Queens?

When, "they," are forced to speak for days the reporters are forced to find a different angle.

RE: the worst shooting
As they not encouraging the next ........... to try harder.
For me-an ex-New Yorker, the world trade center was the worst. WE LOST 3,000 PEOPLE. I was not born when Pearl Harbor happened but the death toll there was about the same as the world trade center, I knew four people who died at the world trade center. One Andrew was a young father of two kids. I knew him as a wild kid. I had taught him to ride a bicycle.

I totally agree that we should learn from history. BUT, realize that history is always based on YOUR point of view.

We were not there. In fact my family, my blood line was not in the US.

You seem to have an interest in Indians and Blacks and frankly, you posted information, your selected information is critical of the US.

If, you are not aware the British tried to get freed blacks and escaped slaves to fight against them dang rebels. Promising them FREEDOM-whatever that is. At the battle of yorktown the british took all the blacks took their weapons and kicked them out of camp to be slaughtered.

Contrary, the the history lessons, rammed down our throats in our indoctrination, oh education, as to slaves.
There were blacks who owned slaves in the south-roughly 3,000 of them. At the time of the civil war only 5% of southerners owned slaves. The north can stick out their chests and proudly there were no slaves in the north.
TRUTH is it was far cheaper to hire a recent Irish or Jewish immigrant and work him to death then to BUY PAY FOR AND MAINTAIN a slave. It is hard for us to realize that our states were similar to perhaps Europe with common boarders but separate governments. Lincoln vastly increased the power of our central government.

NO ISSUE is as simple as we need to make it for any communication. For that matter, we ALL, if you write an autobiography will never say the evil you may have done or even the evil you may not have done anything about. Hitler thought he was GOOD. Hillary, thinks her failures were everyone's fault but hers.
