R.I.P. Edith Cavell.
British nurse Edith Cavell executed - Oct 12, 1915 - HISTORY.com
I have met quite a lot of nurses I really liked over the years. There was one in Reno, Nevada whom I did chores for over about seven years while she told me her life story and I got tidbits from her son-- the Reno cop-- about various legal investigations I had contacts to in some way. The Michelle Mitchell murder investigation and the Tom Snow attempted murder. He did not tell me anything more than cop gossip though. She was ****ed at me when I left for BYU Law School in 1982 as she hated lawyers but was very happy to see me come back and head towards librarianship as a career. I do not recall if I wrote her when I went back to a different law school in 1986 after a year in Denver getting a MA and almost two years working for a publishing company in Belmont, CA. I did talk to her about my 224 613 Project which was at that time just my awareness of a niche in practical information for survivors/victims of crimes in libraries of all kinds. I am still working on doing something about this niche which in 2017 is of course very different than it was when I discovered it in February 1976. |
