Montego Bay Airport Jamaica
 

Looking for some advice for someone who has cruised from Montego Bay and returned for flight back home.

Our ship returns at 8 AM with disembarkation starting at 10 AM and ending at 12 Noon.

Our group of 12 has a bus scheduled for pickup at cruise port for trip to airport.

Assuming we all get on Bus at 11 AM, do we have time to get to airport, security etc for a 1:30 PM flight.

Some has mentioned up to 45 minutes to airport (7 Miles) due to traffic.

Any experience.

Google Maps has 4 miles and 13 minutes from the Cruise Ship Terminal to Sangster Intl Airport.

As I recall, it took about a half hour to get through the Terminal Building/Shopping Mall and get on a bus to get out of there. Everyone off the ship has to get a ride to somewhere at the terminal.

You are in city traffic but it didn't seem to be all stop and not much go - the 13 minutes noted in Google Maps for 4 miles seems reasonable. We drove by the airport and went about 10 miles further to a small shopping area. On the return we stopped at the Doctors Cove Beach Club (shown google maps) 3 miles from the terminal.

We continued on to other places on the boat.

Flown out of MBJ many times. This Airport can be extremely busy and when we were there in August 2 hours ahead of time is the suggested arrival busier times earlier. So I think your cutting yourself really close and IF you don't all get of the ship on time you'll be stuck. Just my opinion but I'd look at a later flight.

Agree. MoBay traffic can be very slow. Sangster Airport gets very busy during peak travel times. Also, your 11:00 assumption is not a good one. I would look for a 4:00ish flight to be safe.

Do they still have the Jimmy Buffett restaurant in the airport?

One in the old section, one in the new section and the outside walk up with the Margarita Glass you can take pictures in. That's on the outside departure area bus depot.
