His secret settlement with longtime Fox News colleague Lis Wiehl was the story of the weekend. He agreed to pay $32 million after she threatened to sue him for alleged sexual misconduct. The settlement stayed secret until Saturday, when the NYT's Emily Steel and Michael Schmidt published it.

Kind of doubt it. And what about the sexual harassment and assault allegations against Donald John Trump?

Ten years ago O'Reilly settled a reported ten million dollar lawsuit which was based in part on strange uses for falafel and loofahs. Can't imagine what took place for $32 million.

I don't much care who reported what or why but rather on the events themselves.

As to O"Reilly my impression has always been that he appeared condescending to the women he invited on his show and if that was the manner in which he treated them publicly then what was the guy like in private.

O"Reilly was top dog at Fox News, commanded a higher salary and otherwise dominated. It is not uncommon to understand, that familiarity breeds contempt. Nor is it uncommon for envy to bring competitors together for the express purpose of bringing the top dog down.

It is also not uncommon for a woman to take different responses from the same approach by different men .

It is indeed very easy for a woman to feign indignation fear revulsion, etc with one man and yet with another simply say "knock it off buster"

and no I am not making excuses for men, nor claiming sexual harassment doesn't exist . what I am saying is that each situation ought to be carefully reviewed to determine is validity.

The $32 million dollar settlement was with a prominent female attorney. Female attorneys can get down and dirty with the boys. There was a relationship between these two. It soured. I believe O'Reilly's arrogance got him in trouble and scorpions do what scorpions do. The amount of settlement represents the value Fox believed was needed vis a vis the revenue they would lose if this situation continued to be a distraction.

The Weinstein situation is no surprise and the casting couch a ubiquitous fixture in the movie-making business.
Those celebrities and political figures taking umbrage are hypocrites. Those claiming "me too" are doing what that breed does taking advantage of publicity and they don't care if its good or bad. That entire industry plainly speaking is a cesspool fully loaded with narcissist and opportunist that have the morals of an alley cat.

They are the aggressor, and that can mean anything from asking a woman out for a coke to well we all know what is socially unacceptable and criminal.

When I say aggressor, I mean that usually they are the ones that ask a woman for a "date", start the process of choose one; sex, romance, a dalliance, a life long partnership, a one night stand.

Women are just as interested in sex, but in a different way and viva la difference. Women flirt, they present themselves as either available or not available and if the male in the situation misreads the cues, she can still say "Knock it off buster" in any number of ways, but making it clear that she is not interested in him sexually.

She can get fired, moved, and passed over but if she is good enough at her job she can usually climb the ladder without using the casting couch.

I think that women are generally very capable of side stepping and letting someone down easy but there are guys like Harvey Weinstein who very much held the reigns for a lot of chances at success in Hollywood.

There are extreme cases, and there are lecherous, unscrupulous men and there are plotting unscrupulous women.

Probably six one way and half dozen the other.

I like men generally. I think a lot of times they get a bum wrap.

But not the ones who keep using the term "femo-fascist" on this forum and the word "cunt". I would like to smack them good.

I happen to like Fox News. The rest of my family sat in one of the studios with big windows along the Avenue of the Americas and watched the Thanksgiving day parade last year.

I think it's damn dumb for Fox News Channel to rehire Bill O'Reilly.

BUT I still like Fox News.

I agree with everything you said but have never "ever" used that derogatory female word. It along with the word that rhymes with witch are very disrespectful and in my view degrading.

I love women but have only been in love with one woman my entire life. and I have said "I love women"in her presence because she knows my meaning and intent.
