Based on your experience, I am looking for hotel recommendations to visit St Augustine to see the Christmas lights. Ideally, the hotel would be within walking distance of the best displays.

Since you asked.

We did the Trolley Tour, 1 1/4 times around the main district, the lights are a joke, it ended with a very tiny portion of cider ( 2 ) sips, and a cookie.

You will go anyway, but you did ask.
