Lady Lake or The Villages

2 questions.

We are newbies arriving Dec. 1 from Thornhill (suburb of Toronto). Our rental home is on Palm Air Drive.

Friends have asked me for our new address and I have come up with a situation where there are 2 city names. "The Villages" and "Lady Lake". Is there a correct one? Is mail delivery faster using a particular one? I also have a number of magazines which I want to redirect here.

Can someone tell me the name of the local Cable and Internet company?

My best guess is that would be Lady Lake with a zip code of 32159 and Comcast is the cable and internet company. But if someone who lives in Orange Blossom Hills would chime in to verify please.

Zip 32162 is definitely The Villages. 32159 can be either but if you live in TV I would put The Villages.

Comcast is your local cable and hi-speed internet provider. You can also use the Dish or DirecTV. If you want dialup you can use thevillages.net. If you want DSL you go to Embarq.

I live in zip 32159. Village of Mira Mesa.
You can use either.
I use THE VILLAGES FL 32159

Comcast is cable and has internet
I use EMBARQ which is DSL phone access

You can also get DISH NETWORK or DIRECTV.

On my newly updated GPS, Palm Aire Dr. comes up under Lady Lake. That's the one I'd use. In reality it probably doesn't matter. The Zip Code is 32159.

Comcast of cable. Take your choice for Internet, but Comcast may have a package just for you.

Either "The Villages" or "Lady Lake" should work. I've found that the best way to resolve the address in accordance with the U.S.Postal Service's comprehension is to research it at http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/

Some computer systems do not recognize TV as a valid address (probably because we don't actually have a "real" post office), and substitute Lady Lake instead. I get mail addressed to both, but always use TV in my own addresses.

The Villages is not an incorporated town, so it's really Lady Lake.
We asked at the post office, they said either works since they don't use 'em anyway, they use the zip code (32162 in our case). We chose to use The Villages on our mail.

This has been stated already, but either The Villages or Lady Lake is ok. One could put down Beverly Hills and 32162 and they would get it. It is the Zip Code which is the determiner, not the town or Village or whatever.

Lady Lake is only that portion of TV in Lake County - can use both "Lady Lake" or "The Villages"

TV addresses in Marion or Sumter counties are "The Villages"

.

Anywhere in TV you can use "The Villages" as your address and the post office will handle it. It apparently makes absolutely no difference as to speed of mail delivery. Generally zip 32159 is Lake County (Lady Lake). Zip 32162 is most of TV in Sumter and Marion Counties. If you look it up, 32162 will come up as "Oxford, Florida" (intersection of 301 and 466). FYI, and just trivia for this post, I understand that as building continues south of 466A, those residents will get a third zip code which will come back to Wildwood, Florida. As far as I know, they will also be able to use "The Villages" as their address.

Another piece of trivia, Embarq and CenturyTel recently combined as a company so your new company name is CenturyLink. They will offer phone and high speed (DSL) internet.

Welcome Canucks! We are from Newmarket, Ontario, and will be arriving in The Villages next week for our 182 days.

We are taking 79/77/95 - it is a nice scenic drive in the fall. But I think in December we'd probably take I-75. What route are you taking? Our drive takes us about 26 hours but we make regular stops for our dogs.

I know you'll enjoy your stay in TV.

905home 10-16-2009 01:17 PM

From north to south - 3 days

We are going 90 / 79 / 77 / 95 down. Probably go thru Atlanta and Detroit on the way back.

As my wife doesn't drive we will do it in 3 days. It's about 680 kilometers each day or as they say in the U.S. - 425 miles per day. I don't have a train to catch so there is no rush.

Hello! We are from International Falls (right on the border of Canada). I just saw your post and wish you a most pleasant drive. Our drive won't occur until January and don't know what the snow conditions will be at that time. I am ready to leave here and ready to fly south for good. Please let us know how your trip went and what routes you did end up taking. Keep in touch! We certainly have enjoyed being on the border. It was a priviledge! The job assignment for my husband is over. He is retired and although I am seven years younger than he is, I'm retiring too. Wouldn't be fair - heh?:cold:

Hi ALN! You seem to be knowledgable in your choices of Comcast vs. Embarq. We will be living permanently in TV and will need phone/TV/and computer access hooked up. With that all said, which IS the better company to go with? I want to be able to be on my computer and still be able to be on the phone. Is one better? More reasonable? Anybody's input would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you! Tweety
