Living there in the summer

How many people stay in the summer. If we come there to live we will sell our house up north,and stay all year unless, we buy a park model in a resort area in Minnesota and travel back and forth. My husband wants to come down in the summer to see if he can handle the weather.

We were in TV June/July of this year...........it was hot but if you act accordingly survivable. So much so that we are moving down in 7/2010.

:cold::cold::cold:

Been here for two summers now. No worse than North Carolina summers to me. It's hot but you can plan your activities accordingly.

Yeh... it can get kinda warm in the summer... this summer was warmer than most. However, there are still enough people that activities are still very active. The huge crowds of sno-birds aren't here in the summer so you pretty much can eat at any restaurant without too many problems, and golf tee times are easy to get. Some neighborhoods only have one or two couples move out in the summer, others are reduced by 1/3 to a half. All depends on where you live!

Summer in TV

Been here for 12 years and am a full time resident. It's hot and humid during the Summer, but it tends to cool off some in the evenings. Unlike NY and NJ. I've heard that 65-70% are full time residents. During the Summer there is no problem getting tee times, parking spaces & seats in Church without need to arrive 45 minutes early. You can get seated at the most popular restaurants without waiting. You can also park close to the stores and hospitals are usually not on divert status during the Summer.

Pools are very nice early in AM and in evening. And there is less traffic with fewer folks in a rush to get everywhere.

Try it, you'll like it.

I see it this way.

Summers - gorgeous in the morning and evening, quite hot during mid-day.
Winters - cool in the morn and evening, mild during mid-day

so a beautiful day everyday, just plan activities accordingly.

Been here in the summer it's hot. We have a park model in Michigan that we spend 4 months at in the summer. Change of pace are cooler temps are a plus for us....GN

I'm from MN and live here full time. Of course it is hot in the summer but as with any place you live, you acclimate. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We do visit relatives in MN for about two weeks every summer and it feels cold to me. It is all relative! Like everyone else has said, summers here are great because you don't have to wait to do anything.

summer is great

We moved here in July and I was surprised how great the weather has been. I think it is hotter is PA because of the humidity. There was another thread asking what people's favorite months were in the villages. The majority said the summer months. It is paradise!

If arriving in July your reaction will be that it is just too hot to do anything. I think that it is such a drastic change depending on where you are coming from that people have a tendency to think it is unbearable. I use to think that when I would fly from NY to Sarasota in the summer to visit my daughter but that was when I had NY blood. Been living in TV now for 8 years and the summer heat is not a problem. Like others have said, there are plenty of pros for being a year round resident. It's all a mind set...Florida is hot, especially in the summer, but you'll readily adapt and life will be great.
