Copying CDs to thumb drive

I'm trying to copy some of my classical CDs to a thumb drive for use in my car.

I tried going to explorer, click the CD drive, copy all to the thumb drive. All I get is files named Track 1 Track 2, etc., and they're all only 1k, which obviously is not a full track of any sort.

What am I missing here?

Win 10 o/s. (Yuck)

EDIT: Just found ripping via WMP. Trying that. Slooooow!

The music data on cds is not in the format of a computer file. You need to use a program like Windows Media Player to "rip" the cd and convert it to computer files, such as mp3 or wav. Then, copy the mp3 files to the thumb drive and they will play in your car.

I use Windows Media Player, rip the cds to my music file and copy onto a thumb drive. Up to 2700 songs. Some of the old ones do not display on car screen. Most shoe title and album cover.

I use Power2Go. Free download from Cyberlink.

Drag files from CD to thumb drive. Files show up with suffix of .aiff. Change .aiff to .mp3 for each song. Presto car plays them.

AIFF are Apple primarally uncompressed audio files and are not MP3 compressed files. Most MP3 music players will balk at playing these files. Simply changing the file extension will not convert and compress them.

You must use a CD ripping conversion program to change them to the universal MP3 format.

There are many free conversion programs for all platforms out there.

A commercially produced music CD will not have computer compatible files on it. It will have a 1kb file for the title of each song on the cd. You need to use a computer program, such as Windows Media Player, to rip and convert the data on the cd to computer music files, such as the mp3 format.

Go to Totalrecorder.com and purchase basic for about $18 download. Put cd in hard drive and play, record using total recorder. When finished, hit file (upper left), then save to mp3

Insert blank CD, and rip from file. You can even record from YouTube.

I found a solution for me, as others have suggested. The the files into Windows Media Player using the 'rip' function, then, also using WMP, 'sync' them to your flash drive. Slow, but it worked.
