Strong Burning Odor

Yesterday and then again today we have gotten a very strong burning odor. We live in Lynn Haven not far from the Villages High School off of 466.

Does anyone know what it is?

What kind of burning? Wood? Leaves? Etc. They each have different smells. There is some kind of treatment plant across from Pimlico Rec Center that often gives off a bad odor.

:what: Are you talking about the Maintenance Area? If so, it is not a treatment plant. It's where they keep the mowers and store the sand.

I had heard from a friend who lives very close to there that there is often a bad smell coming from that Area. Actually several friends who live within nose range of that Area. Maybe it comes from the pond? Would they burn stuff in that Area?

There was a thread about this smell in that area quite a long time ago. Maybe I can find it.

I smelled it just now outdoors and it smells like wood smoke and we live off of 466 between Morse and Buena Vista.

You can tell the various sources of smoke pretty easily. I still like the smell of fire wood in the evening but so few houses in the Villages have fire places.

A house hit by lightening also has a smell but is is different and unfortunately there has been one of these in Lynnhaven as well as a house probably burned due to a meth lab or something like that. Not sure.

It is probably just some farmer with a burning permit and a change of wind.

It has been a while since I heard complaints from my friends who live close to the Belvedere gate -- on east and west sides-- about the foul stench affecting that area. They did not describe as burning that I recall-- just bad.

Been going on for months (I have mostly noticed it since Irma) when the wind blows in the right direction. They are burning tree and I guess other landscaping remnants. In fact, coming back from Orlando on the far southern end of Morse (just before it entered TV) after Thanksgiving there was a MAJOR burning site on the side of the road. Tons of branches burning and lots of dump trucks bringing in stuff. It looked pretty at night but was a bit smokey. There are also other threads about this mentioning sites somewhere on 466A IIRC. Gets VERY strong at times to the point of burning eyes and mild nausea. When wind switches it goes away.
